Magic Happens is a great rescue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, recently battered by Hurricane Gustav.
We picked them as our Featured Rescue when Gustav wasn't even a tropical breeze. Since the hurricane hit them, they've been virtually out of contact with us. We know many of the people and rabbits involved were either evacuating or bunkering down with supplies to wait out the storm, and we're sure they're safe, but with no power in the area and what is probably substantial damage, not only have their fundraising abilities been impacted (they were raising money to build a shelter) it's very likely they have many many other expenses in the wake of the storm.
RabbitsOnline.net's main focus in helping them was on their shelter fund. Please donate what you can. Funds donated between now and September 15th will be matched by a kind donor.
They have already raised about $2000 of the $3500 or so needed, but as noted, the hurricane damage may also be an issue.
We will update their status as soon as we hear from them. Meanwhile, here are some pre-Gustav details:
--------
Our dream of putting our rabbits inside is finally coming true. We have a HUGE yard that we can put the building in. $3,000.00 will purchase our building. We also need a few hundred for electricity, ventilation, insulation, shelving, and other building needs.
One of our previous adopters has offered a challenge gift of up to $500. That means that for every dollars raised for our building before thirty days- it will be matched and donated! The final day for this challenge is September 15, 2008.******
