I've moved to the white side :D

Its an early birthday/Christmas present from my Dad, a gorgeous Macbook!!!

Its so confusing having to switch from Mac to PC! I'm still going to use my PC, i think, so its going to be weird going between the two!

it took me half an hour to figure out how to delete a photo (and I still can't do it properly! Is there not a 'del' button?) and I got really confused because i set up a slideshow in iPhoto and couldn't seem to get out of it. Took me half an hour to manage to get out of it!

Yay! I'm so excited. And looking forward to snuggling up in my bed tonight on Facebook or browsing eBay :p

YAY!!!
Congrats! That's an amazing present! :biggrin2:

To delete something, click on/select it, and then hit 'Apple' and backspace at the same time.... :)

If you are missing the right click options? follow this:

Click on the Apple menu, top left of the screen.

Go to System Preferences

Click on 'keyboard and mouse' or 'trackpad'

In there, is an option that says 'for secondary clicks, place 2 fingers on the trackpad and then click the button' - tick that box!

Then, if you put 2 fingers anywhere on the track pad and click the button, you get the right-click menus pop up.... I found it made the whole getting used to Macs so much easier!

Congrats again lol! :D

OMG thankyou so much! That is such a help. I was getting annoyed because on my Mums PC laptop there is a little 'slider' on the side of the trackpad which basically acts as a scroll up/down, and also on my PC i use that little wheely button on the mouse to scroll up and down, so I'm not used to having to click on the scroll bar. Now I can just use two fingers! Thanks!

No problem lol! :D I remember that used to be my main bugbear about Macs- 'you can't right-click! How do you use them? Waaaa!' but once I discovered that, I never looked back! :biggrin2:

Edit: and I removed your 3 extra posts lol! :p

I'm sitting in bed now, checking my emails and checking on here. It only took thirty seconds for it to be on and ready to use, its just so.... effortless! I'm going to find it hard using my PC now! I may get one of those things that you can plug into both PC and Mac so you can make the keyboard, mouse and monitor work for either computer by just pressing a little button. We have that downstairs.

Ordered Microsoft Office yesterday. Should be here soon hopefully. I'm getting used to it pretty quickly. Finally loaded all my music on here!

Better go and get ready for work, tara!

Great aren't they? :D Effortless is definitely the word....

With PC's, even when they're in standby mode, you have to wait for them to wake up, load, whirr away, you click on something and it doesn't work, etc etc.... Macs? Just open the lid and it's ready to go! :D

I couldn't love them more lol.... :p

Now the question is, I have a free day from school tomorrow, but I have quite a lot of work to do. I know that I will get very little done if Istay at home so I could go in for a few hours and get done what I would get done in an entire day at ome. The school computers are horribly slow and I can't stand them. Plus the study room tends to be popular with the Year 12's who sit round and chat and stink it out with food, and its so noisy I can't work properly...

So should I take it in? I have a bag to carry it in. i'm just so worried because i'm aware its probably the most nickable item around nowadays. Do you reckon i should risk it? i'll have to make sure that I keep it on my all the time, and if I'm working on it it shouldn't be easy to steal.... What do you reckon?

Well, I personally would only take it in if it was covered by your home insurance- so check that definitely before you take it out the house! Sometimes there's a limit on how much you can claim for a single item outside the home, like £500 say, and you have to name items which are above that value....

Other than that, if the bag is one which fits in your bag and isn't obviously a laptop bag (that can be recognised and stolen on your way in or something.... I'd take it in! Steve takes his everywhere lol. It's like a baby or something :p

Its not covered, we haven't added it on yet...

I'm no sure I have a bag big enough to put the bag in, at least one that I feel safe with. The one I have is a shoulder strap one. Its kinda not that laptoppy looking. Its very thin and it doesn't have that classic 'laptop bag' look. It looks kinda like a normal bag but alot thinner than usual...

I still can't decide. I'm going to wake up and see if I can get any work done. If I know I'm going nowhere I'll walk in. Hmmmm *strokes beard*

Fran, you have a beard? Learn something new everyday:p
I'm the sorta person who would just take it haha, If your going to be holding onto it the WHOLE time and not letting an eye off it, it should be ohk, I would think....But then again I don't know what sorta school your's is.....
