I have two 7 month lionhead rabbits. At the moment they are in a shedding phase and I noticed recently that a lot of their stool seems to have alot of hair in it. For example their round stools would all be attached together and look like a pearl necklace. I feed them lots of hay and veg which they keep eatting. The keep eatting and pooing and look as active as ever but their hairy poos just looks so wierd and have me kinda worried. Do anyone else have this problem with long haired rabbits and does anyone have an advice on how I can make their stools look more normal again? I also brush them alot to help and try to remove their old hair but they are shedding very heavily at the moment.

This is pretty common when rabbit moult. They groom themselves and since they are moulting they end up ingesting a lot of the fur. With a good diet, the fur moves along the digestive tract and makes its way out the other end.

Keeping giving them hay and make sure they stay hydrated. Veggies are good for the moisture. Also keep brushing them out, you can try a deshedding brush like the Furminator as it does help get out lots of the fur.

:yeahthat: Yep I'd agree. Brushing is really important when they're moulting. Ripley is right now and I think I'm going to get a furminator {wow they're expensive though }

Longer fur also = longer strings of poo. As long as it keeps moving through, don't worry. It may be good just in case to make sure your first aid kit is stocked with gas meds, canned pumpkin, oral children's rehydration solution (pedialyte), probiotics,and the syringes to give these things.
