So Layla has been producing a lot of cecotrophs, not all of which she eats. I was wondering if this was normal or not. I've seen her eat a lot of them, but I find a lot of these "blackberries" all over her cage in addition to hard pellets. I can tell they're not diarrhea poos since they have the exact appearance of cecotrophs and she still poos regular ones. Just overnight she's probably left a dozen cecotroph piles. She's eating about a 1/4 cup of pellets a day (but given free-feed), unlimited alfalfa with a tiny bit of timothy, drinking water, no fresh veggies yet, active and curious.. Just thought I'd ask to make sure this many cecals are normal for a nearly 7 week old bunny.

I don't know the brand (manna I think) but I was given some and have been mixing about 3/4 old with 1/4 new of the purina pellets. In a few days I'll switch to half and half. But I will run out of her old food fairly soon since she's being free fed and likes to empty her bowl nightly. Is the new diet causing extra cecotrophs?

I wish I could help you but my rabbit doesnt produce any that I see. And Im the one that cleans her litter box everyday and her cage and never have found one. Mindy

There seems to be less cecotrophs after a few days of the same diet and putting her in a larger cage with more litterboxes at the ready. I still see some in the litterbox but they aren't mashed around on her feet like before. Thanks for the responses!
