I've been looking at litterboxes online (Walmart's are cheap and tiny... and that's the only place I can get them in my town!), and I found a good jumbo one that is 22" long by 16" wide and 6 1/2" deep. I'm still deciding between a Harlequin or a Satin, but either way my bunny's going to be anywhere from 7-11 pounds. Do you think this is a good size? Will he be able to get over the side easily? The other one that I like is 18" long x 15" wide x 5" deep. They have rims for cheap too, would that make the sides too high, or would it be a good idea to help keep the litter contained? :?

Hey Jess!

I use the large cat litter box from walmart. Im not sure what the size is exactly..will have to check on that. They have a ton and the ones Im talking about just come in two sizes (they are rectangular and come in blue, red, grey). The larger one is plenty of room. Both Basil and Max (each 5 lbs) share this one and I just change it about every 3 days or so. The sides are pretty high so they dont need a cover (but low enough for them to hop over).

Have you seen Pet-Bunnys litter box set up for Pebbles? I just started doing what he does...using Woody Pet and a screen to filter out the potty. So far, its working great. I used to use Yesterdays News and that worked fine, but I like this a lot more.

Hope this helps!

I have one of those, the large size from Wal Mart :D I just wasn't sure if it was really big enough :?Mine's a nice cranberry color, lol! :DI haven't seen Pebbles' exact litterpan setup, but I've heard of similar ones... do you by chance have a link to a thread about it?

Thats the link for Pebbles' Blog. I think the litter box setup is on page 4. I really like it. I just bought some little plastic baggies at the dollar store and I can scoop out the soiled area 2x a day. This makes it a lot less messier when I have to change it out completely. Also, its nice bc the guys arent standing in their soiled litter.

Do you guys have TSC up where you are? I just went there and bought the woody pet..only 6 bucks for a huuge bag. Much cheaper than Yesterdays news. The plastic screen I bought at Michaels. Its a stitching screen.

Hope this helps! (and thanks toPet-Bunny for the tips!)

PS. the biggest stitching screen I could find wasnt big enough for that large litter box, so I cut two to fit it just right.:)

I went to home depot or lowes and got one of those big light covers. You know for buildings and such. They are white grids or something. I can't think of their names. ASk the help people and they can tell ya. I got some wire cutters and cut it down to size and shape. The holes were just big enough for droppings to fall thru, small enough to not hurt bunny.

Well, I bought a small litter box (from walmart)first and Kahlua fit in it just fine but her butt always hung over the edge. So a few days alter, I went and bought a large cat litter box from Walmart and now it 's perfect! She has lots more room and her butt doesnt hang over. It's really easy to get in and out of too (kahlua's a medium sized rabbit)

I have a second nature dog litter box too! Actually I have 2 of them. My guys are each 10 pounds and didn't fit in the bunny litterboxes that I had for my last two buns so I got the dog litter boxes. They were pricey but worth it. The sides are low enough for the bunnies to get in but also keep the litter inside. I LOVE them.

Here's Binkie's throne...
It's the small kitty pan and I got it at PetGoods. The next size up might work well for you. Binkie'sabout 6lbs.

It works really well. I made the grid so it won't come out when the rim is clipped on.

The original reason I made this was because Binkie would dig all of the litter out of her pan.

thanks for all the replies! I'll definitely have to make one of those grids. I really don't like the idea of them sitting right on their soiled litter all of the time. I'm assuming since they don't spend all day on the grid, it's safe for their feet, unlike a wire-grid bottomed cage, right?

Haley: Yes, there's a TSC only a few miles away from me. I'll have to check and see if they carry Woody Pet or not. What, exactly, is Woody Pet? Is it like pelleted wood similar to what is used in a Wood stove? I've heard a lot of good reviews from pet owners about it, but haven't actually seen it anywhere.

It's only similar in appearance to wood stove pellets. Woody Pet is processed to be safe to use with pets.

The bedding and litter are virtually the same product. You can check out their website for more detailed info www.woodypet.com
