Junie has been pretty good with her litter box. After the first few days when we first got her, she has peed in it consistently. Poops...not so much, but they're easy to clean up. We figure when she's older and spayed, the pooping will get more under control (she's just over 4 months).

Anyway, over the weekend, we had some extra NIC grids lying around and decided that we would build an extra shelf in Junie's cage. She had had just a single panel shelf and then a nice space to run around in. We added a two-panel shelf on the opposite side of her cage, padded it just like the first shelf, and left everything else in the cage the same. We didn't move her litter box, food bowl, water bottle, toys, etc.

Well yesterday I glanced in her cage and she had peed all over the first shelf! She's never done this before, so I thought it was odd. I took off the cloth covering, washed it, and put it back on the shelf. She dribbled a bit of pee on the floor of the cage and on the new shelf (not a ton, just little drops). When we let her out last night to run around she was leaving little pee drops everywhere!

This afternoon when I got home from work, she had peed again on the first shelf--all over. :X

What's up with this?? I wouldn't be surprised if she peed on the newer shelf, but she is mainly peeing on the original one. Is she mad that we changed things? She seems to like hopping up on the new shelf. Is she confused? Any ideas?

I thought marking at first, but since most of the pee is on the original shelf (not the new one) I wasn't sure if that made sense or not. She peed on it again just within the last hour! It's soaked, so I'll have to wash it again.

I'm not sure what a UTI looks like in rabbits, but she doesn't seem to be in pain or discomfort. She's been running around, binkying, seems to be eating normally, and the pee/poo seems to look normal.
