Hi,

I recently adopted a cute rabbit named BunBun from my local shelter, and I'm not sure if he was litter box trained or not...

Well, he is having a problem with pooping in his cage or all around his enclosure (when he's loose.) I'm sort of getting tired of this, and I'd like to get him to use his litter box.

Could someone please give me tips on how to train him?
Thank you!

P.S. - He is fixed.

How long have you had him? It is usual for a rabbit to drop excess poos around a new place -- cage or roaming area.

Is he urinating in the litter box? If so, then he is doing just great! The excess poos will settle down in time. Poos should be dry, have no odor, and are easy enough to sweep up. Just sweep them up and put them in the litter box.

Edit... ok, I see you had him just 4 days. Then give it time. It can take a week or more before those poos subside. In fact, since it has only been 4 days, I would not be too quick to sweep them up. Just do it once per day. Otherwise, if they are constantly picked up, he may feel the need to mark his space again.

Definitely keep putting the poop where it should be so then he knows but still keep an eye on him. But just give him a few weeks to settle and then let us know if there is still a problem.
