Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on I had a bad case of scrept(sp?) throat.

My buns are not litter box trained but I would like them to be. Can yougive me the basics so I can go out tonight and get what I need to getthis started. They are both under a yera old and I just had my maleneutered last Friday (he's doing great!!)

I also have a 3 week old kit with his mom.

Any advise will help!!!!:)

I just got my bun a few weeks ago and littertraining him was a breeze. I was told to put a little bit ofhay or pellets in the litter pan (of course with rabbit litter in it)and when they go in there to eat it, they will probably poop in thereas well. Praise them and talk in a soft voice. Ihave read that usually rabbits will pick one spot in their cage to goto the bathroom, so try to put the litter wherever they tend togo. I'm so impressed with my Cosmo boy. I let himrun around my bathroom for some free time, and I keep some toys, hay, water, and his litter in there with us....he'll play and then jump inthe litter, do his business, then jump out...what a good boy!!! :) Hopethis helps.

Don't use cat litter. Use something like Woody Pet or Yesterday's News litter.

Cat litter is lethal to the buns.

WoodyPet....WoodyPet...I Luuuvvv WoodyPet.

No more urine smell. No more cruuuusty deposits in the tray. Priced very reasonably.

And...if you leave a couple of bags in the trunk of your car it givesyou extra traction....and makes your car smell reeeeally good!!

I get mine at the Agway in Morristown, NJ (thanks again davejr!!). I think there's a distributor closer to your area, though.

now you can use the cat litter yesterday's news..it's sold in bigger bags than i've seen the critter bags..and there arealso organic cat litters like cat country that's made of wheatgrass..those two are ok.

we taught our buns by making sure they knew we were putting the straypoos back in their litter box..they eventually got it that they weresupposed to go in there! we only had a few pee accidents, and thosewere hormone related.

Baby my just neutered boy thinks its a bed and lays in it...LOL
That's very common. I think they think they are protecting it :D. Benjidid that all the time. We thought that there was something wrong, so wegot rid of the pan. That was before we were educated about bunnielitter habits.

I haven't started using litter pans again, yet. I have wire bottomcages with pull out litter trays. Even then, my buns tend to "lounge"over the the area that they use.

Sage really litter trained himself, but thosegirls are a pain. There is 1 corner in Basil's cage where Ican't put the litter box and of course, she chose that corner.

It helps to put some of the fresh poops in the box, so it will get the scent.

I use Cell Sorb (only a Pet Supplies Plus). It is paperpellets and works really well on the odor and it is cheaper thenYesterday's News or any other paper pellet product I've found.

Good Luck,

Jen
