Hello everyone!
I have a lionhead buck who is just under 4 months old and I am (have been trying) to litter box train him for several weeks now. I began by waiting for him to go in a certain section of the cage, put the litter box there and he's good for the most part but once he's out of his cage it all goes down the drain. And it's not like he's running around for a bit and then eventually has to go, the second I put him down he starts dropping little turds everywhere! It's so frustrating! I don't know if it's because he's too young, or because he's an unneutered male or he does it because he's nervous or marking his territory or what. I have a female bunny too and training her was a piece of cake so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please help!!

un-speutered rabbits will leave poos to mark territory. i'd suggest sweeping them up and waiting untill after he is desexed to start getting concerned. to be honest it's not the poos that concern me, it's the stinky wee >.<

Yeah I have a 10 week old male Netherland dwarf and he's really good about peeing in his box, but he still poops everywhere. I figure it's not that bad because at least poop is easy enough to pick up. I will be AMAZED and overjoyed if he only poops in his box after a neuter.

Neutering will help - he may just be too hormonal to control it.

Also, have a second bunny around makes things much worse (I'm assuming your girl bunny is in the same general area and uses the same place space). Even having two fixed bunnies in the same area can cause poop wars.

The bad news is that while all of ours pee in the litter boxes they do tend to leave those little round things all over. The good news is, a shop vac takes care of the problem nicely. When they are confined to a play pen, they do use the litter box more--around 70 %. We've had one out of 27 that only would go in a litter box--she was definitely the exception.
