My bunny is 8 weeks old and has taken well to litter box training in her cage. She has a newspaper litter and a large high sided box so she can dig around. She always uses the litter box when in the cage, however she spends a lot of time in the backyard in her play pen/cage type thing that I have shown below

We leave her water and her litter box (same one as inside) out in the pen with her but she never uses the litter box and I am left to pick up the hundreds of droppings she leaves around the pen, how can I get her to strictly use her litter box inside the house and in the outdoor pen??

Thanks

I'm not sure why bunny poo in the yard is a problem. It should actually be good for your grass.

Is her pen in the same spot each time she is out? She could be marking the area as her own. Of course, if the pen is not always in the same spot she would feel the need to keep marking. Plus I'm sure when it rains it helps to diminish the smell so she would again need to mark repeatedly. Is there a reason why you feel you need to clean the yard up?

My mom just doesnt want it in the yard as we sometimes have guests, her pen moves but she has pre marked the yard before she got the pen, and it hasnt rained since we bought her so

Bunny poo doesn't break down very well on the surface, while it does decay to a degree, you're still left with round pale shells of poop.

My only suggestion is to set up her pen on the lawn with much less space so she pretty much has to be sitting in the litter box, then gradually increase the space as she gets better at it. At 8 weeks old, it may be that she's still a little confused in the different environments too.
