Ok so storm has pretty good litter box habits. Let me rephrase that ok litter box habits.

Recently he has trained himself not to go out of his cage. We open his cage door up at 4 to 6 A.M. and don't close it tell around ten when we go to bed.

So I have not noticed one pee on the floor sense we had the carpets cleaned. Which is a big reason why he is getting to free rome 90 percent of the time.

The problem is in his cage i know. Why is that a issue?

Well He has one of the storm Haven litter boxes. So he will sit beside his litter box and eat hay well of course when he does this he pees beside the litter box on his blankets. which honestly if I had a couple so I could change it every two days I would not mind. But he only has one blanket right now.

So I took his blankets out and he pees 100 percent in the litter box but I am at a dilemma Storm has a pet giant cage so its a plastic bottom. I am worried about him jumping out of his cage and into on the bottom and worried about him jumping on his shelf. Edit to add- Storm can clear the door I know some people need ramps bu Storm clears it no problem. thats why I am worried about the plastic bottom. He can get out fine but I am worried about jumping back in.

So my question is can i get him to use the litter box 100 percent with blankets or should I get used to hearing him slide around on that plastic and hopes he takes to it?

Help me some how please

I'm not sure what you would use, but I'm thinking you could put something down that's not absorbant, like a blanket, but will provide more traction.

How about sticky lino tiles? I'm really blanking on ideas right now, but I'll think about it.

I have this issue and I just did away with sheets for certain ones. They do just fine. Some bunnies don't mind it being slippery. I have a few that run and slide on the plastic... on purpose.

Maybe some of the things you stick on the bottom of showers to keep from slipping. I'm not sure if Storm would try and chew them or not, but they would be cheap enough to try out. You could always pull them off it they didn't work out.

Kat...I have the design for the shelf pads. I'd need to see about putting velcro on it, but let me know what you think if you still want to go this route. We can look into more absorbable fabric...maybe fleece/cotton batting/fleece?

Amy I love those but you know Storm is a boy right? LOL I know those are for your rattys. he does not pee on his shelf. So those would be perfect. Or we could do like we talked about with the shown in holes so I could zip tie it to the cage.

I would be looking for maybe a green to match the cage with design. That what i would really like.

Note shoot me a PM with price.

I removed these posts in error. Sorry girls!

LOL yeah I know Storm is a boy - I just sewed that shelf liner up real quick for the ratties...whom are also boys but loooove pink :p.

I will have to figure out a price, so I will let you know as soon as I know. I'll check Joann's ads to see whats on sale this week, if this week is when you'd like to order.

You come up with a price I will let you know if I can order on March 1st. Or after Storm does his photo shoot in march.

But yes i will be ordering it in march. Give me a ruff estaminet on price. Maybe the highest it could be for one.

Put it this way if its under 30 i can do it on march first if not I have to wait tell storms easter photo shooot

Is there any way that you can block off his access to the hay in the litterbox so that he can only get it if he sits inside? That's what I had to do with Lily. She would sit outside and lean over. So I put her litterbox in the corner and hung up the rollin' the hay ball so that it's too far into the corner for her to reach from outside of the box. That seems to work very well for her.

He does really good with out the blanket plus he chills on the carpet and sleep under his shelf where he like sleeping on plastic.

He keep the house at 65 in the summer. So keeping it at 78 in the winter I think its hot for him.
