Hello, I wanted to see if anybody had any suggestions for me. I have a 1 year old neutered mini lop. He uses his liter box in his cage, but once he's out of his cage he urinates and poops wherever he wants. I don't know what t do because I want him to be out of his cage but I can't have him going to the bathroom wherever he wants. So if anyone has any helpful suggestions please let me know.

Hi there, and welcome to RO. Just wanted to share some links in the library on litter training:

And here's the library article on types of litter to use for a rabbit.

When he's out of the cage, how big is the area that you allow him to run around in? It's possible that he sees the new territory as "needing to be marked" as his, so he goes around pooping and urinating at will. It could very well be temporary until he has satisfactorily marked his territory. But I would suggest you throw an additional litter box out in that space so that he has another place to go when he is out. Sometimes they identify the box in the cage as solely the place to go when in the cage. Outside needs its own outside litter box. Place it in the spot where he goes the most and he might decide to use that place as his "outside box".

How long ago was he neutered? If less than a month ago, it's pretty possible it's just his hormones telling him he NEEDS to mark his territory, and it could get less severe as time goes on and his hormones are not raging.

First of all, welcome to the forum :)

I have a new bun (whom is female) that I adopted from a rescue a couple of months ago, and she does the same thing as your little male. My other bun on the otherhand, uses his box quite well...but of course when I first adopted him, he had similar behavior issues as my female, Aura. Thankfully, my male, Wrangler, has settled down for the most part. I started a topic like this earlier today, just because I need some reassurance that Aura will eventually be OKAY. I am just hoping it's because she is still young (about 6-7 months old), and had been recently fixed before I adopted her.

Just be patient, and your bun will most likely figure everything out with time ;)

kirbyultra is actually right on w/ this. Start out by reducing space outside the cage. Keep something that smells like him in it and (an additional litter box if needed)as he does well say for 20 mins out w/ no accident, you can slowly increase the time and the space. They want to mark everything new, since he's neutered, like said above, it does take about a month for all hormones to wear off completely.:)
