Hi all,
I am a new member here and I definitely could use some advice and/or ideas about how to deliver liquid medicine to my little rabbit. He is about 4 1/2 months old and is very squirmy, even the vet had a bit of difficulty. He has a common parasite that I have to administer a dose twice daily and I just tried it on my own and it was horrible! I tried to swaddle him but he was so jumpy it was all I could do to get him into my arms. When it came to finding the gap next to his big teeth he kept squirming away, it was so awful to have to manhandle him to get the dose in his mouth!... I am not sure I can do this every day for the next 2 weeks!
Is there anyone who has had the same experience or might have some different ideas about how to go about getting him his dose?

thanks,
Sarah

Expanding on the link from Blue eyes, check out this video about bunny burritos and syringing:

If it's very difficult to medicate him and/or if he persistently wants to spit the medicine out, I recommend getting the proper dose of medication into the syringe, then sucking a little bit of fruit/veggie flavored baby food into the front of the syringe (apple/blueberry is a favorite in my house... carrot also masks nasty tastes pretty well). Don't waste too much time looking for that 'magical' gap between front and back teeth - just aim for the rear part of the lips/mouth and squirt in sideways and you'll nail it.

LOL @ trying the medication yourself... that's something only pet people (and maybe human parents) can understand! I've done it myself with various things, including tasting my rabbits' hay and pellets... partially curiosity, but also (with icky things like medicine) to know exactly how icky something is that I'm expecting them to swallow.
