I hope you all enjoyed the pics of the twins!! :)

My gosh, they are excruciatingly adorable! Torty Holland Lops. My favorite :D The wee one with the ear starting to lop just kills me. I hope you will post lots of pictures of them as they grow up! Can you get a picture of them with your hand or something? Of course I've seen lots of pictures of baby bunnies, but at the fair this summer we saw a litter of 4 week old Mini Rexes and they were so tiny that my mind was completely blown.

Usually when you have a significantly bigger kit in Hollands, the "runt" is actually the normal-sized, showy kit. :) They're typically called "true dwarfs" because they have received one dwarfing gene and will mature to be within show weight. The larger ones are often "false dwarfs" and have not received a dwarfing gene, so they typically mature to be larger, broody Hollands.

That doesn't always hold true, sometimes one really is just a little runty and catches up in a few weeks. But keep an eye on their size now and keep their characteristics in mind. Learning how they develop can help you down the road because you will be able to see earlier and earlier what kind of kits you may end up with in a litter. For me, this helps a lot in my smaller rabbitry. If I have inquiries for Holland Lop pets, I can take a look at the nest and have a pretty good idea that x number will be for sale in a few weeks. Or if they're all displaying characteristics I like to see at their age, I can say hey, it may be a number of weeks until I could give you and idea of what's for sale. You can always change your mind, you don't need to be (and shouldn't be) committing to sales before the kits are even weaned. It's just a tool to give you an idea of how things are going.

Lauren: You can't really tell in the pics but the runt is about half the size of the bigger kit :) I'll try to get a better pic today.

Laura: I haven't decided yet. I'll decide when I find out the genders and I'll be deciding on show quality. That's the reason why I bred my buns was to get the perfect show bunny! They're both soo cute though! Tough choice!!
