I decided it was about time I got my act together and started a blog for my buns, me, and the rest of my happy little zoo. So, without further ado...
This is William. He's my first bunny as an adult. He is a broken opal mini rex buck (obviously...unless I wanted to change his name to Wilhelmina). He was born 10/6/2005, so that makes him a young chap at only 2 years old. He's not yet fixed, but that's in the works for the near future. But, even so, he's such a good boy.
His personality is so...great. He's playful, funny, curious, and sweet. And, all at once! He's been litter trained from the get go and has been excellent about using his litter pan religiously. He loves to be out and about and his favorite thing is running away from me as I try to catch him to put him back in his pen. He'll run and run and run...under the bed...out from under the bed...back under the bed...THUMP! THUMP! In and out and in and out. You get the point, right? He also loves toys. He's a toy junkie, for sure. But he can also be a sweetie and he likes to just hang out with me and watch television or listen to music sometimes. Seriously, he rocks out to the 80's. I could go on and on forever, but suffice it say that I love the little booger.
This isRuby. My baby Ruber-duber. She's a castor mini rex doe and is spayed. She was born, well, I don't know when. But she's about 3-ish. I got her from Indiana after responding to a "rescue me" ad on this site. Her gotcha day is November 11th. And, of all my buns, she's the lover.
Ruby loves everyone. She's the sweetest bunny I've ever met. She's content to sit in my arms or on my lap all day, every day. She loves being held, petted, and loved on. She's also litter trained and is excellent about it - I think it took 2 days only for her to get it down perfectly. Her favorite thing to do is chew cardboard. She could go through a box a day without trying. And she never eats it, she just chews away very methodically. First one side...then the other. And she's the piggie of my bunch too. She needs to go on a little diet, and she's been getting less of her pellets, but she is still holding on to that pesky weight (sound familiar, ladies?). I don't know what I'd do without her...she's my babe.
This is my baby...baby Einstein. He was born in July of last year. I originally got him because he was being kept in deplorable conditions. I didn't want another bun. But I couldn't imagine my life without him now. Unfortunately, I don't think he feels the same.
He's not neutered yet and is first in line for the lovely surgery to come. Until then, I keep myself guarded at all times because you never can tell when a pee strike will come! He's also started growling at anything and everything. It's so funny because he's so...frou frou. He's this big, puffy baby that growls like nothing I've ever heard before. It's funny except when it's not. But he has a sweet side too. He'll poke me with his nose for pets and he'll occasionally sneak in a kiss. But don't tell him I told you so! All in all he's a good guy and even taught himself to use his litter box. What's not to love...I mean, look at that face!
These two lovely chicks are Lennox and Silvie. They are both just under a year old and were born on 5/10/07. But they're not sisters - cousins instead. They are american chinchilla does and I'm very grateful and lucky to have them. Not too many people have had the opportunity to meet american chinchillas...and here I have 2 beauties! I've had people contact me about whether or not I'm going to be breeding or showing them, but I've not decided yet. I really want them to live their lives in luxury - am I willing to put them at risk to breed or show?
They've only been with me fora month or so, but I'm already in love with them. I love them from their personalities to their lesser abilities at litter training. Silvie is definitely more personable and the brazen girl- she's fearless. She was always the first to come up for pets, the first to explore, and the first to escape (oy vey). Lennox has always been my "scaredy cat." She's still scared of everything, but not nearly as much as she was before. And, trust me, she certainly had the time of her life when the pair escaped and had their great adventure! The pair are bonded and both love and despise equally. They're just sweeties and I love 'em and hope to learn, bond, and grow with them for a very long time to come.
Actually, I feel that way about all my buns. I do love them...they're my life right now and I wouldn't have it any other way.
