does any body on here have aleopard gecko? i've fallen for them but i have afew questions first. the most burning one is-do they have salmonella? i read that people with diabetes have a harder time with it and i've given up the idea of a turtle because of the salmonella risk. i get enough toe infections with out having to worry about something else, LOL! speaking of which, i don't feel good, so i gotta go check my blood sugar:grumpy:.

I have 4 and have never had problems with salmonella.... I just make sure I was my hands really well and use hand sanatizer after handleing them...

:hugsquish:yay!!!got any pics you feel the burning need to share:D? hand washing happens a lot at our house-i even rinse my hands after messing with Jamie:p!

Edited to add:are you on the gecko forum www.geckoforums.net? just wondering!

No I am not on that forum but i will have to check it out... I will post some pics when i can locate which one of my kids has my camera... I haven't seen it in months... I have 2 males and 2 females

thanks for your help! i registered on that gecko forum but it won't let me post yet(something about 'reviewing' *shrugs*).and besides i don't know any of those people from Adam, so i thought i'd give it a go here, i figured the worst that could happen would be no one having any.

what do you feed yours? i can't do crickets, too noisy, plus mom would deff. diss the idea if livecrickets were involved. so is there anything(hopefully something that comes 'pre-killed', i can be a bit of a sissy about bugs(i like worms though, as long as i have gloves:biggrin2:.)) thanks again!

P.S. let me know if you register, i'll pm you my user name. i'd rather not put it here, that was the point of using a different name(nasty Internet stalkers:shock:).

I do!

So what are the lil bitty ones that look like a leopard gecko popping up in my powder room?

relatives? like lobsters and crawfish?

Could be. If you get a picture I could try and find out.

Also I am all giddy cause both of my reptiles are getting tank upgrades. FINALLY!!! :biggrin2::pinkbouce::bunnydance::pinkelepht::highfive:

Anna likes anything that's died before it comes into my house if i have to feed it to something(or even if i don't, as long as it's not apet,LOL). for starters they can't escape if they're dead:biggrin2:!

I feed crickets and meal worms... I also feed crickets that come in a can with theese tweezer things you can buy at the pet store... they stink but they will eat them... i tried dried crickets and my geckos won't eat them...

isn't there some sort of dish that vibrates the bugs *shudders* and makes it look like their alive? *i sure hope so* thanks for all the help guys!

Anna

Personally, i think the best diet is what they eat in nature and they don't get dried stuff. Lol. They need to hunt, though mine was absolutely awful at it :rollseyesI love love leopard geckos but you really need to consider the food so I am glad you did. Oh man... the number of times a cricket escaped... and then the times that one would sneak into the bathroom (the most echo room of the house) and go Crick crick alllll niiiight.... LOL. I am pretty sure that my mother coming after me with a baseball bat was not a dream :tongue

I had no problem handling them with my bare hands since I worked in a pet store but man they stink and um yeah... Well those who have handled crickets know what else happens. Lol.

Yucky to crickets. I love reptiles, but I wouldn't have one again...

ok, so what if i did meal worms(live)and dusted them with some sort of supplement(or not. what ever y'all think is best(just no crickets:shock:))? how noisy are they? the cage would be in my room and i have to be able to sleep at night, LOL! so, cricket noises aside, how much noise would one leo make in a ten gallon tank?

also, would he/she like some vines to climb(like the fake, put in your aquarium kind)? or just explore on the cage floor?

what's best for the cage floor, paper towels(i'm leaning toward this) or that reptile carpet?

i'm not sure how mom's going to react when i bring this up(it's already sorta sitting there, my wallpaper on my side is a leo on a flower:dude:), and i think i might do better if i could take her to this page and say "here are what people have to say about them,". so, could anybody that's ever had them sum the up in a paragraph or two please:D? thanks for the help every bunny......ops....er...i mean...um..everybody!

two things:

a) if they're climing the walls they can't be leo's, because leo's can't climb like that.

b) you're in Texas, and leo's are from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Iran. so unless you've got escaped leo's hidding(convicts?!?!?!?!) in your powder room...............................

so, can you tell i've been in research-power mode:p? sorry if that was info over load, you can get together with my mom and close friends and y'all can complain about Anna doing to much home work and then spouting facts non-stop:D.

Anna

Research is good! Reasearch is just great.

Jax loves to hunt, he will pick at the dried ones.

My skink is a weirdo when it comes to food. Though he is going to the vets today.:?

This is Bo....
