Sophie's Humble Servant

Hi,

I'm leaving town for a few days. This is the first time leaving Sophie for more than a day. Just want to know if I should prepare an emergency medi kit for her in case something happens when I'm gone? If so, what should the kit contain?

I've already contacted the vets and have her carrier ready to go in case. Have also pre-measured out her hay and pellets for her caregiver.

Thank you:)

Some stuff to force feed is good to have on hand. A large syringe is needed as well.
Gas meds aren't really effective, but if you already have them it doesn't hurt to give them.
Some basic wound care is also helpful. Betadine is good to clean cuts. Gauze and vet wrap can be used if needed, but it can be hard to wrap something if it isn't on a leg. Scissors to cut gauze is helpful too if you can't get the individual pieces.
Towels and paper towel is good to have one hand so she can be wrapped up if needed and to help clean up as well.
Make sure the pet sitter knows who your vet is and knows where the vet is. Have a vet card and info easily available. If can be good to have a credit card number on file at the vet and you may need to give the vet permission for treat your rabbit if needed.

Clean the cage and litter box before you leave. This lets your pet sitter see if she is pooping.

Yeah they already know the vet and how much she's supposed to be pooping. Thanks for the info! I suppose it's a good idea anyway to have this stuff on hand for myself in case anything happens too.
