So Kokomo has decided this evening that she isn't wanting to eat. She is a four year old Dutch spayed doe with no history of health problems that we know of (She was a rescue).

We went down tonight and she didn't want to come over and greet us like she normally does, did not want the Parsley we offered (Or the alfalfa pellets which we occasionally use as a treat, she loves those) and was constantly laying down like she was uncomfortable shifting around and was trying to find a better way to lay.

Luckily we had a vet appointment tomorrow set up so we could take Buttercup in for a check-up, so I think we'll just take Kokomo in instead.

I was just wondering, Kokomo was obese when we recieved her and we thought still a little chubby even now since she has such a belly on her, but the odd thing is that it looks like the flesh around her ribs and hips are starting to sink in? Like, more then they should. How can that be with how large her stomach is?

Well, it looks like it was a false alarm as this morning she was running around and eating like usual. I think these buns just do these things to scare me.

However, I was still curious as to why her body would be shaped like that? Sunk in around the ribs but a large belly?

Once fat builds in the body cavity it is harder to break down, around the ribs it is mostly muscle which breaks down fat.
She probably still has a lot of internal fat which is maker her look well...fat.

Keep some simethicone ( baby infant gas drops like Mylicon or a generic ) around for episodes like you described. She probably had gas. You can give 1cc and then repeat every hour X 3 doses if still needed.
