Kleenmama's 3rd cut hay is now available for shipping!! :bunnydance: I just ordered 45 pounds. I can't wait to get it. If it's anywhere near as good as the 2nd cut, all the bunnies are going to be very happy.

How big is the box from Kleenmama's? Like...is it compressed a lot or in a giant box? I ordered from them before but don't really remember, it was awhile ago. I need to figure out how much I have room to store!

They ship in different size boxes according to how compressed the hay is. My last 45 lb. box was very compressed and quite small. I would email Linda (customer service) with the quantity you are interested in and ask how big the box will be.

The KM hay is compressed and comes in a relatively small carton as compared to SweetMeadow/Oxbow/etc.

I was going to order some 3rd cut from KM, but my buns like the SweetMeadow a lot too.
SweetMeadow is cheaper for me because of the shipping, and I can get it delivered to me in a couple of days (SM uses FedEx.... KM uses UPS)

What??!!!! I asked her if we'd get emailed about it and she said yes but I never got her email!!!

Thanks for the announcement slavetoabunny! I'm at work but will shamelessly go order hay now!

I'm going to order a bunch too! I just emailed and asked them about the box sizes. This is just in time, because I was going to have to order them new hay this week or next no matter what.

I got a response...

"Hi Michelle!

The hay is not compressed this year. The 45 lb box size is 18 x 18 x 24. The 9 lb is 14 x 14 x 14 or 16 x 16 x 12, depending on which one I grab :)

If you order together, I can sometimes get that combo into an 18 x 18 x 28 inch box as well, but that is the biggest I have.

Hope that helps!

Linda"

Thought I'd post it here in case anyone else is interested!

Toby likes long pieces of timmy and Kirby likes hard or short as long as it's long strands. Is the 3rd cut short and piecey?
Does softer mean dustier?

I ordered a 30lb box of half 3rd cut and half bluegrass. Kirby loves the long, chewy strands of bluegras. And I love how it's clean.

The last time I ordered from here I got 1/2 2nd cut timothy and 1/2 bluegrass. It wasn't dusty, not like Oxbow usually was when I use to get that (I have hay allergies too) but I can't remember if it was compressed or not the last time I ordered. The bluegrass I got was in really long strands and for some reason I can't really remember what the timothy was like.

I think I'm going to order at least 45 lbs of the 3rd cut, and possibly some bluegrass as well. The last batch of hay I got them was really hard and they didn't enjoy it as much as usual, plus they wasted a lot of it too, so I owe them (and myself, the more of it they eat the less I have to clean up off the floor!) some nice soft hay this time ;)

My two guys are currently enjoying a 3rd cut Timmie shipment from last month, and I'm getting ready to order 15 more pounds. It's bunny crack, really. Your bunnies will love it!

Interesting. I had two 5 pound orders combined last month, and they were shipped together in a 16 x 16 x 16 box. The hay is great, but it's definitely tight in the box.

I don't see how 45 pounds will fit in an 18 x 18 x 24 box, unless it is very compressed.

Does anyone really have an opinion between Sweet Meadow Timothy and Kleenmamma 3rd cut Timothy. There will be a dollar difference in total cost for me, with larger quantity box of Sweet Meadow. Quality difference....? That would help me make up my mind.
