Tonight i looked at the kits, we have three boys and two girls.

Bramble Jr. is a boy and will be called (Dally, short for Dallas)

One of the lilacs is a girl, she will be called "Bracken"

One of the lilacs is a boy, do not know his name

One of the REWs is a girl, she will be called "MJ, short for Mary Jane*off of SpiderMan*)

One of the REWs is a boy, do not know his name.

Ellie:D-i THINK i did this right, anyone got any tips on how you tell them apart? They're two weeks old and four days.

Aww, Congrats again. They are alladorable. Pam had a good tip. She said rather than risk doing damage totheir little private parts she has this tail trick. If you PM her shecan tell you. I can't find the post. If I do I'll add it here foryou.

When I got Sampson, they all looked identical,except 1 was light gray, the rest were sandy. I had troublepicking because they were all so adorable. She had marked theears with marker (I'm not sure what kind, but I think any would befine). She used 1 color for the 2 she was keeping andnumbered the rest 1-8 with a different color. Sampson was#2. I'm sure she had to reapply the marks often because hiswore off after a few days.

Here was one of the posts I made:

On the very young kits, you need to be careful not to damage the genitals.
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff88"

You can gently pull the tail back a little -- the buck will have morespace between the "hole" and the rectum, where the doe's "taco" willtouch closely to the rim of the rectum. You can tell the sexof newborn kits with rather good accuracy using this method and thereis no chance of damaging or bruising the genitalsbecause youare not pressing on them.

You can also do a search for sexing kits -- I've made a number of other posts on sexing.

The best way to prevent this behavior and to discontinue the line ofdoes with poor maternal instincts is to stop breeding the doe.

Pam

Cannibalism is hard to explain why. Suddenchanges, nest disturbance, some even believe that it's a geneticdisorder, some does may not be ready for kits, they're nervous,distrubances such as dogs, raccoons, hearing a male rabbit thump toooften. Also believed to be a mineral or vitamin deficiency.
