Kiara went to the vet today because I was concerned she had Conjunctivitis and as expected, she does.

I've been given drops to put in her eyes for 10 days. Does anyone have tips and tricks for getting them in her eye?

are they really liquidy drops? or more of an ointment?

definately suggest a bunny burrito ....I dunno how comfy Kiara is withletting you touch her eyes ...but if they are really liquidy drops, place the tip of the dropper against the corner of of eye and if youkinda have her held on an angle it should roll/wick right into her eye.much better than trying to drop it over her eye.

If its goopy stuff...i dunno about that, but I am sure someone will have a good suggestion fo ryou

hope she gets better soon!

If you can get someone to hold her securely foryou (either wrapped in a towel or flat on a table), gently pull herbottom lid away from the eye and it forms a pocket, put the drops orointment in there. They can close their eyes pretty tight, and you'll never get her to open her eye so you can put cold gloppystuff in there! This way, she doesn't see what you'redoing.

What ever instructions the vet gave you (how ever many times a day forwhatever days...) follow the directions carefully or you risk theinfection coming back.

Thanks, I tested out the pocket eyelid idea andit works great! She doesn't move when I do it so I don't necessarilyneed help which is good because my dad is never at home and my momworks full time and spends her evenings working at our new house so Ipretty much have to do it all by myself anyways.

They're liquid drops. I have to give them to her 3 times a day for 10 days.

Just an update, I just gave her the drops and itworked good. I don't need help with her. She calmly sits in my lap andI can do all of it, thankfully.

Bless her heart for not fighting you.

Watch for a blocked tear duct. It will look like she's weeping. Warmcompresses will help clean up the 'sticky' dried fur. Fauna leaned intothe warm compresses when she had her troubles.

P.S. Does she buzz or make any sounds when she's happy? Fauna sounds just like a bee.

She's an angel. She really missed me today.Something came up and because the vet is about 1.5 hours away, Icouldn't go. My brother-in-law took her out to the vet with there puppyfor me. Anyways, when she got home, I opened her kennel and she jumpedin my lap and started kissing me.

The warm cloth thing doesn't work, I've tried. All it does it smear itand work it into the hair more. I wet it so I don't hurt her and then Iuse an eyebrow brush to clean it up, it works great!

Kiara clicks her teeth together. She doesn't grind them quietly, it's aconstant, quiet clicking. It's really cute. Or she'll lick my otherhand or turn her head around and kiss any place on my arm she can reachwhile I'm scratching her.

I've had my boys for over 2 years and never a health problem *knock onwood* and I get this baby and I already got one. Luckily it's one ofthe better to have, fairly easy to get rid of and cheap to treat.

All I can say is it's great to have connections. The drops costed $30and that's all I got charged for. If I would have taken her somewhereelse, it would have costed $64 for the check-up and drops.

I'm really happy to hear she sat so well foryou. It makes it so much easier when they let you treatthem! (I have found a little reward afterwards helps too, most of mine get a Cheerio or sunflower seed for being good. I'm notabove bribery!)

It's important to keep the area around the eye clean. Ifshe'll sit for you and let you do it, all the better. (Iusecool Teabags around the eye to break up the"gunk".Her skin might be sensitive to temperatures,so don't go too warm.) She still may lose the fur at thecorner of her eye. But it should come back quick, once theinfection is cleared up. You should see definate improvementin 2-3 days.

Just an update, Kiara's eyes are looking muchbetter. One of them you can barely tell has a problem and the other isstill looking like she has Conjuctivitis but it's much better. She'sbeing really good about it too but she's learned my schedule for givingthe drops and she avoids coming near me when those times roll around.

I've made sure everyone knows to wash their hands after touching herand to not touch the boys if they touched her. I don't want any moreincidents and it wont be as eas putting drops in the boys' eyes.
