With Ty back and hydrated, his urination has been as bad as ever and our usual methods for keeping him dry just aren't working anymore.

He's in a NIC cage that is 3 panels long, 2 panels wide and with a chloroplast floor. Normally, he has a little box, a large, fluffy towel, a ton of hay and his toys, food dish, water bottle, etc. We managed to keep up with it for a while with just cleaning more often but now its just out of control.

Ty's towel is very large and after 2 days I take it out and it is literally dripping wet. The bottom of his cage is soaked and he's been standing on his hay to stay out of it. He still poops in his litter box but I think he pees so much now (He drinks far more because he needs the extra fluid to filter out the toxins his kidneys no longer can) that he just does it wherever.

I will not put him on wire, I'm a little hesitant to cover the cage in shaving but I think I may have to resort to covering the bottom of his cage in the wood pellets and then putting shavings on top so that he's not just standing on pellets all the time... Does anyone have any suggestions?

What about trying puppy pee pads? I know the dollar store should have some, so not too expensive to try. I don't know how absorbent they are, but you could try them for a couple days.
Maybe just change the towel more often. I know it would be a pain to do, but would be better than him sitting on a wet towel all day.
Newspaper under the towel might help to draw the pee down so at least to towel lasts a bit longer.

I have also heard of vet beds that allow liquid to go to the bottom while keeping the top dry, but I think they are rather expensive. http://www.vetbed-canada.com/index.html

Have you looked at EZpads for a wire cage? They work well and the urine/poops just go right through. YOu can get them on Barbibrownsbunnies.com in her catalog, or probably somewhere else online.

Vet beds are nice. I had some shipped from the U.S. in a large roll and cut them down in size for fit.
Another solution is to get the pads that cats sleep on. They are thicker than a towel. Use those to put over a layer of Wood pellets.
