Winston and I are moving into a new apartment, and he is going to be allowed to hop around as he pleases. He's a flemish giant, so I love having him out and about since any cage seems too small.

I've smartened up and bought a table and chairs with chrome legs so that he won't destroy them, but I'm wondering how to protect my couch.

Winston has previously been allowed to hop up on the couch, but has chewed holes in cushions before. This wasn't a big issue with my old hand-me-down furniture, but I'm finally getting a nice (and brand new) couch that I'd like to have for a few years.

So the question is: how do you keep your bunnies from hopping up on the couch? Does tinfoil work? The spray bottle technique never works for Winston.

The other option is protecting it with a thick blanket or something overnight and while I'm at work. But any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!
Emily

If you still have the cushions he's redecorated, put those on top of the good cushions, or somewhere else, so he can still have his cushions.

I don't really have any suggestions other than maybe supervision? But I like lake's suggestion! We let our bun on the sofas because he has never tried to dig or chew on them... He loves to cuddle on the sofa with us... Good luck! I hope you find a good solution :)

I mean, I can always block off the living room with a pet gate when I'm not home or sleeping... but I hate pet gates. Was hoping that there was something simple I could put on it that would scare him a little.

And I no longer have the old cushions, but I like the idea of letting him go to town with them.

I guess the nice couch might not be worth the risk...

I guess what I'd use are those bed-sheet sized aluminum looking things that are used for keeping warm in an emergency. They make a rustling sound I don't like, so a bun probably wouldn't like either.
