On the 3rd I noticed Peppy acting off in the afternoon. He wouldn't let me pick him up, he slept under his NIC level all day, he wasn't chasing me grunting for pats, he didn't eat his parsley. Very unlike himself.
I cleaned his cage and litter box and went to bed after worrying and watching him for a few hours.
Peppy is not neutered and likes to poop everywhere. When I woke up there was no poops and he had not eaten though I watched him drink. I gave him parsley and lettuce, it took a while for him to want to eat them but he did. He got bunny treats and blue berries too, basically anything I could get into him where he wasn't eating pellets or hay.
About 45min later we had a couple poops thank god, and he seemed to be more active and friendly. I was mushing up pellets at the time just incase he needed to be syringe fed.
Throughout the day he kept improving and this morning I woke up to the normal huge poop mess and a very very active bun. I'm so glad he doesn't live in a hutch outside, I never would have noticed him being weird.. especially not as quickly as I did.
Please keep a good eye on litter boxes and food intake! I'm sooo lucky I was able to help him resolve this before it got bad.

Good points and so glad it was resolved before too late! You are right that sometimes it just isn't noticed right off. It can happen so fast!

I feel like I could pinpoint exactly around when he started getting 'grumpy' even.

This is exactly why I clean my litter boxes daily! Kiwi is prone to upset tummys and not wanting to eat.

I'm glad your bun is feeling better!

hmmm, Maybe I should switch Taffy to a litter box. I'm not sure if she'd even be willing to use the thing, but right now she's on wire (only part of her cage) and poop falls on the ground but you can't ever tell. It kinda does scare me that I'd never know if she stopped pooping.

Ripley on the other hand has one and is so good at using it~ And, I've noticed with him already before no poop in the litter and then can give simethicone.
