My rabbit is an adult so how much kale should he have every day? I've been giving him some lately but I notice his pee smells really strong. Is this from the kale and should I stop giving him some? I give him a good handful of kale everyday

As with all veggies, rotate varieties constantly. Some veggies are very high in certain minerals, and if given too much can cause an overdose. A handful of kale a day is definitely too much kale. The standard recommendation for veggie feeding is 1 cupful of 2-3 different types of veggies a day, and the veggies on one day should be different from the next consecutive day.

Introduce each new veggie slowly at first so your bun doesn't get a stomach upset. Once you have a stable list of at least 5 veggies you know your bunny can handle, feel free to mix them around and feed a different combo each day according to veggie availability.

Here's a link of bunny-safe veg to help you along: http://rabbit.org/suggested-vegetables-and-fruits-for-a-rabbit-diet/

On pee, I have never known veg to affect bunny pee. Strong-smelling pee is usually due to hormonal maturity. Is your bun fixed?

Yes he is fixed and so instead if kale would it be okay to give him a spring mix salad instead?whenever I am able to get it I do so it would be less frequent

Spring mix is a mixture of lettuces and other small greens, which is fine for rabbits. In fact, that's what I give Natasha Rabbitova every morning. She loves picking through the mix to get just the right leaf to eat next. She always eats all of it, but nonetheless, order matters...
