"Rabbit Production" advises against feeding rawbeans to rabbits asmany legumescontain lectins andtrypsin inhibitorswhich may interfere with the absorption ofnutrients in the digestive tract and may also damage the digestivetract. Raw cabbage should also be avoided because it containssubstances that may interfere with the functions of the thyroid gland.
When I was little, I remember that we fed all vegetable scraps to ourrabbits including raw bean tops, cabbage, iceberg lettuce, stale breadand potato peels. Small amounts of raw beans orcabbage will probably not do any harm, but large amounts should beavoided.
