hey guys just wondering are there any bad side affects to the calicivirus vaccination?? just being a worried rabbit owner and dont want Jelly getting sick :bunnieskiss

I am also in the USA but I think that there are a few people from the UK in the forum. I am not sure if they have the same vaccinations or not though.

Leelow, in the future with your posts, go to the "home" tab of this forum and click on the appropriate category to post your question. This is the introductions section but you have already introduced yourself.

This question could either go under 'infirmary" or under "rabbits online forum" (which is under "bunny business").

I may be a complete ignoramus, but what is the vaccination you are talking about and are there other vaccinations I should be getting for my rabbit?

As far as I know, US rabbits don't need shots. Those in Great Britain need a myxo shot & maybe more. It looks like Leelow is in Australia, so I don't know what they need there.

In the UK, they get myxo and VHD shots but never heard of this one, maybe it's particular to Oz.

Calicivirus in rabbits is also known as VHD. In the United States we don't really have any of the rabbit diseases that can be vaccinated against so we do not vaccinate our rabbits. I always recommend that you discuss potential adverse effects of any treatment with your veterinarian although in my opinion, the benefits almost always outweigh the risks.
I'll move this to the infirmary.
