Jason got me an incredibly thoughtful gift for Valentine's day this year. Unfortunately......... He picked it out by looking over my shoulder while I was "window shopping" on eBay. And instead of checking out the list of stuff I'm watching, he looked over at the list of stuff I purchased. (I was feeling really down about a bunch of stuff for the last couple weeks, and decided to cheer myself up with a little something nice.) He rarely uses eBay, so he isn't really familiar with the layout. So. Now I have Two of these bunny compacts:

Now that I see both of them together, the one I got myself seems less than perfect, a bit discolored, a bit more cream than white. (Sold as new) But my seller doesn't want to give me a refund. :(

The one Jason got me is really much nicer, but it also cost more. His seller might give him a refund, not sure.

I feel kinda bad, he really was trying to surprise me, and now it's just a mess to sort out. (I guess I should have known, buying something never *really* cheers me up.) And I feel bad, I want to keep the more expensive, Nicer one, that he bought, but I don't know what I would do with the other one.

James is a very thoughtful husband indeed. Lucky you! You could always keep one on your dressing table to use and as an ornament and carry one with you in a small purse pouch to keep it nice. Or resell here if that's allowed.

You can donate it to a rabbit rescue as a fund rasier. :) They're always having yard sales, auctions, ebay stores, etc.

sas :)
He doesn't want to donate it, 'cause it was a bit pricey. :(
He suggested trying to sell it at our rabbit group, but no one who goes to the meetings seems like they're into things like this. The only sales we have are stuff on the table at the meetings, which doesn't move very quickly. I have suggested in the past that we open an eBay store, but no one seems interested.

I may try to re-sell one of them. I like eBay for shopping, but I'm lazy when it comes to selling things there.

I think we decided at lunch today that I'll try to re-sell the "second" bunny compact. I offered to buy it from him, but he said "it's a gift, you can have it." Followed with "but if you don't want it, I'm gonna get my money back." :?

So I guess I will try to sell it, and we'll split the cost up somehow. I'll probably donate part of my share to my rabbit group. I've got a few other random things I've been meaning to put on eBay, too. (Took photos 2 months ago, lol! I did say I was lazy about that!)

Might hang on to both of them for a little while, they're pretty cute sitting side by side. :D I would feel weird about offering something for sale here, I don't know the rules on that and I don't want to get in trouble!

Perhaps if someone is interested thay could just PM you and do it 'off board' so to speak. I don't know if that fits in the rules but I'm sure someone can clarify.

Why don't you keep the nicer one and resell the not as nice one? I don't see why you shouldn't get to keep the nicer one. Also, I think you should complain more to the person who sold you the one you bought that isn't really new but the auction said it was. That's not fair. The two in the picture are obviously different. If you do sell it on eBay, it would be easy to sell- it would just need a tiny box to ship too. Just be sure to mention that it doesn't look brand new!

I think I will keep the nicer one. I don't know if the other one is actually damaged, or just different. The color is a bit off, and some of the markings aren't exactly the same. I don't know how these were made, so there may be some variation. The hinge, clasp, and mirror are in perfect shape, and it includes a small velvet pouch. (Neither came with the Estee Lauder powder in them, but that's available in stores.)

I don't think I will have a problem re-selling it, I'm just lazy and don't want to do it. I only discovered these a couple weeks ago, but every one since then has sold. As far as selling it to someone here.....I feel like everyone here is a "friend." Even people I've had disagreements with. And I wouldn't want to sell a friend my less-nice-thing.

I think my main issue with this is....I feel guilty. I already felt guilty about buying one for myself. There's no reason I needed to spend the money, on something like this that's purely ornamental, and not even like a room decoration. And then I felt guilty that Jason spent the money on me. I had told him he didn't need to get me a V-Day gift, because he's going to re-build my computer for me. (Actually he's going to re-build his own computer, and put his old parts into my computer, since his old parts are better than what I currently have. So that makes his computer re-build more expensive, since he could have sold his old computer parts to someone at work.)
So now I have double bunny compacts, and double guilt.)

A w w w w ... the BIGGEST thing to remember is that it was a sweet gesture on his part, and that it's precious, no matter what it's monetary value is. Which ever one you keep, it's HIS gift to you. That should be 'warm and fuzzy'.

And you're certainly allowed to indulge yourself every once in awhile by buying something special -- especially bunny items!! (You CAN'T feel guilty about bunny items, not allowed!) But now you already have one as a gift, you can happily pass on the sweet little item to someone else for whatever you paid for it. No guilt!

If you want to 'sell' it on here, we do have a loose policy that at this time the only things that can be sold are sanctioned by the forum and that part of the proceeds must go to a good cause of some kind, be it the forum or another rabbit group.

But I'm sure if someone asks you a price, you're welcome to answer, and you're certainly welcome to PM each other. ;)

Or check out completed and new listings on eBay, the piece is there. (Estee Lauder Honey Bunny). One just sold for $56 with free shipping (which was a great deal), another two are 'Buy It Now' for $79 plus $5 shipping.

Or, you might just want to put it on eBay explaining that you love it but you got a duplicate as a gift and I'm sure you'll get your money back.

Good luck and tell Jason he's a sweetheart!!
