It's My Party and I'm Not There!

Today is my retirement party andI can't get there. It's an hour away from where I live. We already have 5 inches of snow and ice here with another 5 expected on top of that. How funny is that? I think folks are mad at me but none of them live in the snow belt. There's nothing like going out in style.

Add to that my house looks like a war zone. A simple one day job in our kitchen has turmed into a nightmare. The contractors were here all day yesterday to get get rind of the squeks in the kitchen floor, put in new flooring and few other minor things. As always with a house built in1850, they ran into complications from where the kitchen was added to the house and an electrical issue where the past owner added on the breakfast room. The stove is sitting under the front windows, the frig is in the middle of the dining roomwith the dish washer. There is no water in the kitchen. There are tools and molding everywhere plus a huge compressor. And the flooring is all over the living room. It's gonna' take a week to clean up. Of course the cost of the job has increased. What fun!

Oh yeah and best of all, one of the workers didn't believe our contractor when said to 'beware of the attack rabbit'. Melody bit him when he trying to give her a friendly nose pat.

I'm not at work today either - hee hee hee! Friday is actually my last day. The winter weather advisory is ending at 10am today. Snow everywhere. maybe i will get to the office for Thursday and Friday. Just think, next Monday I won't have to care what the roads are like!

I have a whole host of things big and small to do. Needlework, cleaning, removing wall paper, painting, thinking about and planning a spring garden for people and bunnies. Sleeping til 10 Am everyday, at least a few days.

PS the contrators finished up yesterday and everything looks so much better. Simply changing the florring in the kitchen makes it look so much bigger. I love this contractor becuse he cleans up really well after his jobs. We didn't even have to run the vac!

Congrats Anne on your retirement! I know that probably doesnt mean you'll be any more rested-with all those crazy kitties and bunnies to care for, but at least you'll be home more to hang with them(and us)

OMG, the big goofballs at work had this old picture of me with my Buzzard Day hat on. So they enlarged it had the picture at my party since I wasn't there. They took tons of photos of themselves partying and enjoying the food - posing - making faces, etc. And then they put it in this scrapbook. The scrapbook has pictures of everyone with something each wrote special to me. They wrote about all my favorite things - rabbits, cats, Spongebob, Happy Bunny. It is hysterically funny. What a wonderful keepsake that I will treasure. I will miss them but not the job or the big bosses down state.

We all cried at the end of the day and now I am too tired to feel much of anything.
Forgot to mention, dragged home four big bags of presents and Greg's jaw dropped at the sight. Gotta' gosee bunnies and sniffle some more.
