I am 23 today!
Every birthday I think back on what could have happened on August 3rd, 1989. My brother, Justin, was 3 years older than me. When he was born he had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. He then had a series of strokes and seizures, among other things, that left him with Cerebral Palsey and he couldn't walk, talk, or see. He passed away in 2005 due to complications from his disabilities.
Anyway. The doctors kept a close eye on me and noticed that there were similarities between Justin and I. They decided to do a C-section and I was born 7 weeks early. If they would have waited any longer I would have had the same problems as Justin, and even if they took me out I could still very well be just like him. The day before I was born, my lungs were not developed at all and they said I would weigh 1-2 pounds. When they took me out the next day my lungs were fully developed and I weighed 5 pounds. There was absolutely nothing wrong with me. I guess you could say I was a miracle baby.
I'm so glad that I am able to live a normal life.
