Hey Everyone,

Okay, my girl is officially going to have these kits! I am sooo excited because the breeding is from a super nice buck from the breeder I purchased her from. I palpated last night and actuallyfelt movement~it was so amazing! She is 29 days along, the nest box was put in yesterday. She has never had a litter before and it has been many years since I had a rabbit to kindle.

So...I noticed her being excited and growling when I went to feed her this morning. Didn't touch her feed, just jumped around. Well at noon today she jumped in the box, went to work making the nest perfect and jumped out, pulled out a whole lot of fur and put it in the box. At this point I was thinking she was going to kindle NOW. Nope. It's after 5:00pm and she is just laying in the corner, closing her eyes taking long naps. Is this pretty normal?? I remember my does, pulling fur then giving birth right after. *sigh* That stinker! I bet she's waiting until dark. :ponder:

Yeah it is perfectly normal. SOmetimes when i have been out i have even seen them going through contractions!

Good luck try to leave her alone as much as possible but maybe get snuggled in for a long night lol

I've got does that build their nest and pull fur 3 days ahead of time. And I've does that pull fur and makea nest 3 minutes after kindling... go figure! Have patience and let her do what she's got to do, at her own pace.

I am starting to wonder if nest building a sure proof sign of a doe being pregnant. Would does going through false pregnancies do the same?

Yep - a doe going through a false pregnancy builds a nest (which is how you know it is a false pregnancy - for they don't have babies to go in the nest).

Isenstar built a small nest two days ago I think it was.....she destroyed it last night and looked at me like, "Why did you give me that hay and why did I make that? I didn't need a nest......"

I have a doe going through a false pregnancy right now. Built a beautiful nest! Has milk! Is guarding the nest box! NO BABIES! LOL! She's just a little mixed up. I'll give her time to figure things out and then remove the box.
