Benson (my 8.5 year old blind/deaf foster) is getting adopted :). Cindy, his new slave, sent me an email and called me today. She saw his pictures and his story on the bunny store's forum and she said, "It was love at first site.".

Cindy is a super nice lady who I can tell, just by the tone of her voice, will be a wonderful slave to Benson. She also has another blind/deaf bunny who Benson might get to "marry"! He will get to live in an x-pen and be very super spoiled. What a lovely retirement home for the old guy!

Cindy is moving into her new house in 2 weeks, from there....we will discuss when she can drive up this way to bring home her new little kiddo.

:clapping:

As for me...I am very upset and very emotional about it. I am happy, yet I am sad. I love Benson, I consider him one of my own. I don't know how it will be walking into the bunny room and realizing Benson is no longer living with me. He has just become apart of the group, he blends in. I had to come to terms with myself that because of Benson's age, he may never find a home....now that he has found a perfect home...I need to let him go.

....

I am so sorry Amy. I know how hard it is to let them go.

:highfive:Fantastic Work!!!
I now understand (after the kitten) how hard you foster mommies work to care for the fuzzy babies, and huggable senior buns. It must be super hard to let them go... However, I think that foster moms and dads are the angels that carry little ones for awhile, until their ultimate destination is reached: a forever home. Without your love and care for Benson, he would never have this opportunity.
He is so thankful for you.

Aww, how bittersweet :(.

I'm sure Benson will just love his new home, especially if he can get a special girly too! You've done so much for him, you should be so proud!

:hug1

Thank you, guys :).

I am super happy that Benson's old owner asked my friend Paris if she knew anyone who wanted his old cage and stuff....or else I never would have known about Benson....he would have been euthanized.

I am still very heart broken :(, though. I guess I got used to the idea that Benson would be with me until the day he died because no one would want an old bunner.

Benson will definitely be my last foster bunny for quite a while. With Ryan going into the Navy (ugh, once they call!)...I don't know what state we will be moving to, what type of housing we will have, ect. So, it would be smart to not take on any more fosters, unless it was a very desperate situation and I knew they would have a home before it came time for us to leave to move (which won't be 8 months after Ryan leaves).

I told Alicia it will feel awkard, because my foster rats are going to their new home tomorrow (yay!) and Benson will be going to his in about a month...and that I will have 1 dog, 2 kitties, 3 bunnies, and 3 rats.....how NORMAL !

At least you'll be able to get lots of updates on him! :) I think it'll all work out great.

Know it'll be hard, but at least you got the chance of having him 'crash' at your place! Hard to think he could have been euthanised if it wasn't for you, could still have a few good years in him!

I can understand how hard that must be for you! I am gld he is getting such a wonderful new home. At least now you know he will be very spoiled! HUGS:group:

I said normal would be 3 dogs, 3 kitties, 3 bunnies, and 3 rats.

My thoughts, exactly.

Benson has benefitted from your love and attention; now he'll get more of the same from another lucky individual. He is one blessed bun. :hearts:

I am trying to accept the fact that he will be leaving. I keep talking to Ryan about it, about how happy I am that he is going to the lady he is going to. So, hopefully with talking to Ryan about it a lot, it will make me get more used to it.

Alicia....I went to dogtoberfest today and wanted to steal every little Doxie and Doxie mix I saw. There were so many little stubby legged doggies, but I think two dogs would drive me up the wall. Sammy is enough, until we are really able to have another dog! He had so much fun with the other dogs!

Aww, it's awesome that Benson has found a good home with a lady friend, but I can only imagine how you are feeling. Will you be able to keep in touch with how he is getting on? Can you have 'visiting rights'? ;)

Jan

Amy, I'm so glad:) for Benson but so sad for you:(. You've done such a wonderful job with him. He looks so good now compared to when you got him.

Is his new owner a member of RO? If not I really hope you can get her to join, I'd really love to keep hearing about Benson.

Yay for Benson and hugs for you. Maybe you could go visit him, his new mom, and his lady friend some day? I bet that would help, seeing him living happily in his own house, with lots of free run time, a lady bun, and no youngin's around! (I don't know why, but I think of Benson as a grumpy old man type, probably because he always looks so disapproving!)

Thanks, you guys :D!

I will definitely ask Cindy (his new slave) if she will join this forum and/or send me emails and pictures to on here because Benson has people who want to keep hearing about him :).

I am sure I will definitely be able to visit Benson, if we ever go into the area (it's about 2 1/2 hours away). He is going to be sooo spoiled. It really is a happy out come. I feel better today, but am still very sad. I am just so happy he is going to such an amazing new home to live out his life.
