issues with urine

The other day I decided to put a blanket on my couch to sort of act like a slip cover since Gizmo has been chewing the cushions, Gizmo is mostly free reign and goes to his cage for the evenings, yesterday i noticed that he was biting the blanket on the couch and placing and moving it around which i wasn't too concerned about then this morning i saw him do the same thing except he lifted his tail and peed all over the blanket, the area he peed in is where i usually sit. I am just wondering what compelled a fixed and trained bunny to mark like that? the blanket was washed before being put on the couch so there were no odors that i can think of on it:?:expressionless

I don't think it's marking...I think he considers it another litter box! Rabbits don't really realize what is easy to clean - like litter - and hard to clean - like furniture. You may want to restrict the couch for a couple of weeks, and put a litter box on the floor right in front. Then when you let him back on the couch, he'll have the habit of the other litter box imprinted in his mind, and he'll know it's just a hop away.

Its weird because we live in an apartment, he's only got run of the living room which isn't very big and his litter box is steps away from the couch but I'll give that a try and see how he does

he has also never peed on the couch before until i put this blanket on it

He's more than likely just mad that you put the blanket on there and ruined his cushion chewing fun. It's his version of payback for taking his fun away since he never did it until the blanket was put on.

I had a cat that used to pee on my pillow when she was mad because I'd be gone all summer when I was younger. I wasn't there to sleep w/ and well, that's how she paid me back for it. LOL
