They were made by an artist and have been on display at museums and such. The artist made the website too, specifically to provoke the reaction that you had. Makes you think, doesn't it?

Oh my gosh! I am so glad it was a "joke." When I first read it I didn't know that. I was pretty much boiling with anger. I can't believe someone would make a joke that mean. :shock:

Yeah, this is just something someone made. I saw it on Deviant Art a few months back, and I think the artist was trying to make a statement, not a joke. I think is probably a comment about our society nowadays, with doing un-needed things to pets for convinience, like declawing cats, or impulse-buying small 'cute and cuddly' pets only to discard them days later.
I think it relays a very powerful message, and the fact that it even got this response from you all is something in itself.
I'd take your anger as proof that we're still human The ones out there going 'That's so cool! ' are the ones that should take a long moment to sit and think about themselves as a person.

That's what I thought, horrfied, yet curious.I felt like I should get one to save it from the lunacy of man-kind!!!

That's EXACTLY what I did! I started preparing MrBinky mentally to be swarmed with them. Lol.

I do feel stupid about having fallen for it. Then again, I never know what to expect. It sure does make you think though!
