Hi guys!

I just went to Bed Bath and Beyond today and bought up some straw placemats that they had on clearance for .99 cents.I thought I would see if any of you know if this is safe before I give it to the buns. The tag doesnt say much..says natural straw placemat, but Im not sure if the word "natural" is just referring to the color, or what.

I was going to put it out for the buns to lay on in their cage. Do you guys think this is safe if they do chew on it? Mr. Tumnus seems interested in it, like he wants to chew.

Heres a pic:

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks in advance!

Are there any threads? Try cutting a little bit open to see if there's any thread on the inside. Then if it looks like it hasn't been dyed, varnished, or chemically treated in any way then it's probably ok.

And I might have to go to Bed Bath & Beyond!

Did you ask an employee about it? They might have been able to tell you?

Looking from the colour, it doesn't appear to be treated to me. It's hard to tell if it is ok or not just from a picture, so I'd be careful. Is it shiny at all? Smell like anything? It looks ok to me, but that's just from the picture.

I asked an employee...she was clueless :)

I cut it open and there arent any strings or anything. Its all just hooked together with straw and actually theres more straw on the inside when I cut it open. Pretty neat! Theres no odor and color to it. Seems pretty natural to me. I think I will go ahead and let them play with it. Tumnus is excited :D

Naturestee: If you go and buy some, let me know what you think! They were on clearance so Im not sure how many they would have..but at .99 cents, it was a good deal!

I thought that if I couldnt use them for the buns, I could use them for my patio table :)

FYI: If you guys are gonna go look for these, they were in the placemat section and werent marked "clearance" or anything, but if you look on the label they're marked .99 cents.

They have lots of different straw/bamboo placemats, but these were the cheapest and most natural looking.

Good Luck and if anyone gets any, let me know what you think!

Then they should be fine! Usually signs that you should NOT give it to themis it being un-naturally shinny, a dark colour, smell like paint (or anything purfumey ect), or if you cut it up and the insides don't look like the outsides.
