^ just thought i should incude that.

so i was very grateful when Solara started licking me. (i still am) but she's seeming to get out of control. i dunno if it's bad or not.. like, every chance she gets, she's licking my face or hands. (she's such a sweetie) and now, she licks the blanket that is under her pen. she licks it like it was my hand or something.

does she have ocd or something? :? or is there more to this? it makes me wonder if she wants a companion because i know buns groom each other when they are bonded...

please someone help? it's not really urgent, i'm just curious to why she's like this. O: i'm glad she licks me, but its weird how she licks the blanket.

blanket state: a bit chewed in a few spots, clean, she licks in any spot, not just spots that have crumbs from her food on it

x bailee

edit: she did this before and after her spay.

she's doing it again. ahh XD. ahhh solara why must you lick the blankeeeett Dx

I do no that Jessi licks her blanket a lot.

I do not know if it is normal but I can say my buns does it also.

a more knowledgeable person will come along.

I can't have blankets with my buns. They have carpet in their cages which they don't eat. But if I put a blanket in there, they will eat it. I think it just depends on the bun and what they like to eat. I would say as long as she isn't ingesting the blanket, it is fine. You can also try to put a stuffed animal in there to keep her company.

Solara is a Licky Bunny!

Sorry I can't help you much with the cause, or whether you should be concerned. Our 2Licky Bunnies are(were) unaltered. (One of them is now RIP, at the :rainbow:Bridge.) My bun, Dutchess, loves to give me kisses when I hold her, especially if I scritchy scratch her back or neck.

Now, our Flemmie, Lily, used to give Dave a million kisses a day, mostly on his feet or hands. She also used to do the love dance around him, so we figured she just had a romantic interest! Neither of these buns really ever licked anything else, though.

BTW, the advice to get a stuffed animal for company might work. We had a Holland Lop who had a stuffed bunny friend that he adored. He would cuddle and groom it, and uhhh, well...you know...what unaltered male buns often do! Once, his friend got so icky and beat up, we replaced it, and he was inconsolable. He never did like the replacement...I guess it just wasn't meant to be, lol!

Yup a licky bunny... A rare breed of wonderful bunniness :) As far as I know there's nothing "wrong" with her. She's probably a very loving lil girl. It may look the same, but I assure you that she licks you because she likes you and she licks everything else cuz it's just something she does.

Some buns lick everything in sight. The floor, the cage, the litter box, the blankets, their toys, rugs, your clothes.... If they are chewing up blankets and actually ingesting it then I'd discourage it. Otherwise it's not an issue. Many people allow their buns to tear up cheap rugs and stuff in the house and it's ok. If they start to eat it, it could be bad for them if the item is made of synthetic material.

Bunny licks don't smell like anything. I wouldn't mind them licking the blanket :)

We give all our unbonded bunns a stuffed rabbit to groom!
Our one girl licked a hole through her cage carpet!
We gave her her bunn friend and she settled down a bit! :)

thank you for the input everyone :) i never thought anything was wrong, i'm just worried she's feeling lonely when I'm not around! :) we're actually looking into adopting another bun. i tried giving her a stuffed toy, and she started chewing it. she doesn't injest the carpet that i've seen. there's holes that seem very even- nothing seems to be missing from the fabric.

i love that solara is a licky bunny. my rats were lickers, so i was really hoping solara would be one too. It took her a few days, but she started licking me, and i was more than grateful. i'd like to just take the blanket away so she will stop chewing holes in it, but she chews and digs the carpet, which made my parents mad. so we had to sacrifice the.blanket. XD
