I wake at 5:15am every morning for work and go straight to my bunnies room to feed them, they are always hopping around and happy to see me. I bring them food and they eat away. This morning my 12wk lop was just at the corner. I hand fed him and he ate a little, he wouldn't move much. As I went to get ready, I had my boyfriend watch him and monitor him and he said he moved to get some water then went back to the top corner in their cage and just sat, he ended up hand feeding him too. I have to go to work and my bf said that he's been to the litter but can't tell how much he's going. I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid but he is acting very differently than before? We do have another bunny 11wk lionhead and we discovered she started mounting on him a week ago. Is he sick, in pain, or stressed? Help please, any advise will be appreciated?

Thank you,

Sitting hunched up for long periods, and lack of appetite, are both signs of pain. If this isn't due to an injury or other health problem, it can often be due to gas pain from diet issues. You could try some simethicone for gas pain, but if after a couple of doses he isn't feeling better, isn't eating and pooping, is grinding his teeth, and/or his condition worsens, you will need to get him to a vet right away. Your rabbit is most likely cold, so you should help keep him warm with warm towels or a warm pack. Gentle belly massages may also help.

Thanks JBun for this information.. Good news is that my bf said that my lop is doing fine now and hopping around (no binkies tho) but he's eating and drinking lots of water.. I've set up an appointment to get one of them fixed. My lop is a buck and my lionhead is a doe - which I was told but they said they weren't sure. I was reading online a few things and that does that seem to be pregnant stay in the corner and dig, also their attitudes changes a little and doesn't like to be touched etc.. I'm wondering now if my lop is a doe? But I guess I will soon find out what their genders really are and will start with fixing just one for now then later the other.

My Groucho did the same thing a few months ago. I called in to work so I could get him to the vet. He was fine at the vet. I would go with the post that said to try simethicone a couple times in case it is just gas (I think that may have been Groucho's problem) and then (I too the vet if there is still a problem. Just make sure someone keeps an eye on him so that he can be taken care of right away if he gets worse.
