I don't know what to think right now but it's pretty darned scarey with the gas prices going so high in the United States. I went from putting $50 or so in my van each week last year to $65 at least 2x per week in my truck now. It's killing us financially.

John's work is slow because it's an election year.

Food prices are outrageous, and everything else!

I'm kind of freaking out...... so just ignore me if I seem a bit..... more weird. :?

ps - I didn't put this out on the main board cause it's not something I like having the whole world see!

I'm with ya Bo! And watching the World News is even more depressing! With all the floods in the Midwest, they're saying barges are stuck sitting there, trucks and trains can't get through, imagine if this was everywhere? There would be nothing shipped anywhere, that is scary! They are saying tonight that all the rain is due to stupid global warming...blah.:grumpy::panic: But they also say all the rainfall happens every 10-15 years. :dunno

I just wonder if gas prices fall dramatically when the new Pres is elected...:huh

Well, I don't know what all I believe about global warming. I know that it does happen every 10 or 15 years and usually heavy snows run that way also.

I think we need to drill our own oil and it will come down.

We've begun limiting trips to town, watching the grocery list closer and just tonight I did the shopping and I got off-brand in a couple of things I normally wouldn't.

I've also been feeding the bunnies barn hay. I have to be careful with Bo and when we go to the new hay they can't have it cause it has alfalfa in it really heavy.

*sigh*

Yeah, I'm not sure about the global warming stuff either.

As far as off brand, hubby actually bought generic chips last night, he said I ain't payin' $3 for Cheetos! And we shouldn't, he actually noticed that more of the generic was off the shelves than the expensive stuff like Cheetos/Doritos! And it will be, we can't afford to pay silly prices for the same thing in generic.

We do need to drill our own. for sure!

I hope Bo does okay on the hay!

It's just ashame the way everything is going in this country, it's ridiculous, but hey, it's election year! It's their ploy!:grumpy: (Oops, did I just say that?:embarrassed:?)

Yep and business slows because people are worried...

My hubby is SO mad at me cause I set the a/c on 1° higher on each program setting. You'd have thought he was melting! LOL! Seems silly but it really does help!

Its worse for us in the UK. We pay twice the price for our petrol despite having less 'gas guzzler' cars on the road. I'm learning to drive, i'm not looking forward to owning a car! :(

Fran :) :hearts :brownbunny

Ugh!..things are getting just as bad here in Aus as well...everything is just going up and up and up...petrol is the worst....i think it's hitting everyone hard here...it's ridiculous!!!! and just a few more !!!!!!

I drive a minivan and my hubby has an Expedition, to fill his up all the way it cost 80-85$ and to fill mine it is 65-70. We get on filled every other paycheck, instead of filling both up in one pay. I stay at home so only do small running here and there, but it is still killing us. I have gotten a bale of hay because to have it shipped was costing more for shipping then for the hay itself, and i thankfully found someone else that sells Oxbow within a couple of miles from me. It is so sad because it is killing people, but what are we going to do they have us in a hold we need gas for our vehicles to get to work, we need food to eat, uggghh

I'm spending around $100 per week commuting to work. This is double what it cost when I took the job 1 1/2 years ago. It's killing me, but not much I can do about it.

Exactly!

I know a lot of people are sharing rides to work now. I stay home most of the time but have 2 part-time cleaning jobs. That used to be our play money for horses, and fairs and just going to a movie..... now it pays for the gas to get by.

My daughter has hopes to get on the volleyball team for her school in the fall but if she does - I have to pick her up in town 4 days per week from practice...... all I can think of is the gas money. Of course I want her to play - it's good for her - but MAN!

I don't think I'm going to let Luke take his ewe to the state fair because it's too expensive to drive to Indy every day for a week.

It's changing our lifestyle so much and I don't like that at all! :X

I think gas is affecting people's ability to do rescue transports also. When I transported those three rabbits a couple of weeks ago, I spent about $50 in gas.

Well! I just reported you! LOL! Really, I didn't - I found what it does tho - it opens the link in a pm and you add the admin name to send it to.

Anyhow - That's so true! Where I used to be happy to go anywhere within a couple of hours (if my van wasn't dead) now I have to say - well, where exactly? and check construction and such. I even plan the purchase of rabbit feed out to the day I have to go to the fairgrounds for something..... that is a 14 mile drive one way and I have to worry about it. :X

I agree the cost of gas has affect me alot. Plus now on my own I don't have a 2nd income.

My car was totaled last week someone ran into me at a stoplightand If i have to buy a new car the loan payment and increase in my auto insurance. I just would't be able to afford vet costs if something happend to any of them. This worries me ALOT.

i spent $56 on gas yesterday. i get 25 mpg. and i drive a LOOOOOTTTTTT. i'm seriously flipping out too especially since i just graduated from college in december and i need to go to graduate school to be able to do anything with my degree. i'm applying this fall, but even applications cost money these days. i'm telling you guys, i'm going to end up in the poor house really, really soon, i just know it.

good thing i live at home with my mom, because honestly, i don't think i could afford rent, utilities, car insurance, cell phone, gas, nemo, and doctor copays/prescription copays right now. i pay all of those with the exception of the first two right now. and even that is pricy, without the hundreds of dollars for the first two.

UGH.

HAHA they won't fall, i'm a stark democrat and obama has no idea what he is doing, sadly. mccain is just as retarded as far as i'm concerned, and he is a good friend of my mothers. my mom works for his doctor at the mayo clinic here in scottsdale.

all i can say to everyone is start getting your oregon trail covered wagons ready, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

I agree. I almost cant watch the news every night because its so depressing. Its hard to enjoy summer when you cant afford to drive to the grocery store, let alone think about vacation.

Our family usually goes up to Traverse City for at least a few weekends in the summer. I doubt I will go this year since it will cost me about 100 round trip to get there and back- not to mention theyre ticketing speeders like crazy now to make up for lost tourism. When I went last time with gas and my ticket for going 5! over it was like 225.00!

Its definitely affecting transports. Thats why for our next rescue drive I want to build a gas fund for transports. No one wants to committ to a 2-3 hour drive when its going to cost them 50-60 bucks in gas. Animals will definitely suffer from this gas crisis for sure.

And none of the candidates have a viable plan with regards to oil prices in the US. Its ridiculous how ignorant they are. And taxing the oil companies is the dumbest thing Ive ever heard of- that will only drive prices up higher. Stupid politicians!

My Dad has just bought an LGP run car. It cost him £6k (just under $12000). It only costs 7p per mile to fill, rather than 15p per mile on an average family car. I guess if you can afford to buy it in the first place its the way to go!

It's so bad isn't it. :(

Doesn't affect me directly yet, I can start learning to drive in August, even if my pass test it will be a really, really long time before I get a car. But everything is so expensive, pretty scary. :?

Its alsovery difficult for those of us who live in places with really awful winters too. Most people in the US can just downgrade to smaller cars with better mileage..but I wouldnt be able to get around at all in the winter without 4 wheel drive..and unfortunately almost all 4-wheel drive cars are not fuel efficient. I wish I could just buy a smart car but then Id be stuck in my driveway when those 2-3 feet of snow come down in January :(

I thought about buying a car to have for running around here and there and things like that, but with four kids, and it being illegal to throw one of them in the trunk i am stuck with a larger vehicle.
