Is it just me, or is this a "taco"????

Please tell me this is not a taco...

Not funny...this is "Max". Which, apparently, is actually a "Maxine". I was playing with him today, and thought, "why does it look like he's getting a dewlap???". So checked, and this is what I found. So much for my "future herd buck". Now I have another doe, and the only buck is a psycho that probably will never breed anything. I think I'm talking my daughter into switching to Mini Lops...they're everywhere!

So sorry to hear Max turned out to be Maxine. I does look like a taco to me. Gmas had an excellent idea. Any one you know that could breed Maxine? I know Spaz is not ready due to his miserable 1 year of life. But she could be a good Mom and could give you some beautiful babies that have donuts.

Again, so sorry.

K :)

I'd love to borrow, or even buy, another buck. But I can't find any, period. That's the reason for driving so far for Spaz...the only buck for sale. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I sure am glad I found out now, because I filled out my show entries for the 18th already. I'd have looked like even more of a newbie than I am. lol

Taco on board!

I'd be facepalming...doh! But the others are right...maybe she'll be a good mum bun?

Maybe you will get lucky at the show on the 18th and find something there. I'd be meeting as many as I can. You never know what can happen or what you might come home with?

LOL Sammy. I still can't think of Max as anything but a he. This is going to take some adjusting. lol

I've been to numerous shows, and haven't turned up anything. One person had said he would sell me a 6/8 buck, but his wife didn't want to sell him. They are SO hard to find. I did find another person in NY, with a sr. opal buck for sale. But the drive is going to kill me, if hubby doesn't do it first. lol I'm talking to some people now, trying to get transport from there to here, but isn't looking promising.

Hoping for the best for you. With breeds like ours, it is hard to find breeding or show stock without driving long ways. I'm making another 12 hour hike to get my doe because there is hardly any Lionheads in my area. And I understand about show people selling stock to newbies like us. Have had that experience already, and I haven't even shown.

Hoping you find transport for this new buck. I'd hate for you to give up and go with the flow like everyone else because it's hard to find what you want. Thankfully my husband is very obliging regarding LONG road trips. If not, I'd be into Holland Lops. Not a bad breed, but they are EVERYWHERE.

Well, this last show, you weren't supposed to bring sale stock...only animals entered in the show. Space was really limited, and the only ones I saw with a bunch of carriers to sell and not show were the breeders I got Max and Ruby from. Anyway, these people didn't bring anything they really wanted to sell, and I can't blame them there. They just had their show stock.

Is your 12 hour drive one way??? After 3 hours in the vehicle, I'm ready to start walking. haha

My hubby isn't supportive of this rabbit thing at all. If I told him I found an awesome horse in NY, he'd have the trailer hitched before I told him exactly where in NY. lol

If I hadn't fallen in love with this breed, I definitely would have given up by now. But I love them, and I will have my own herd. Whether I have to drive to Alaska or not. haha

6 hours up and then 6 hours back. Neville did well on the trip, but both of us took a few days to recuperate. lol But we are willing to do it again for Luna. And since the breeder got new beautiful stock, I might be doing it again in the future.

Like you, I've fallen in love with this breed, so we go where they are. I really lucked out with the breeder of Neville and Luna. And truly when we both look at Neville, we really think it's worth the journey. It's exhausting, but well worth it.

I hear you on the recuperating! After I picked up Spaz, I went to sleep at 6 that evening and never woke up until 7 the next morning. LOL

It wouldn't be bad, if I had someone to help with the driving. This buck is almost 7 hours away, so that's 14 hours of straight driving. I usually do well until about an hour from home. Then I fight sleep like crazy until it's over.

What state is your breeder in? The breeder that I talked to at the last show is in NJ, but I can't remember where. I might call and see what they have for sale. It might make my trip a little shorter. If not, at least it's in another direction. LOL

My breeder is in Washington, PA. If you find one in New Jersey, PM me. Maybe we can find a drop off that won't make it so hard on you to drive by yourself.

Let me know.

Hey, that's where I'm headed for our first show, next Sunday. Well, first time actually showing, that is. LOL

Have you ever heard of Sea Bunnies Rabbitry?

Yea, I think my breeder will be there as well. I just couldn't get off that weekend because I have to work and it's my Saturday. It's mandatory because there only three of us that actually work on the weekend. So that's why I took off Tues, March 20th.

No I've never heard of Sea Bunnies Rabbitry. Is this the rabbitry in New Jersey?

K :)

Yeah, their website just says, "southern new jersey' which really doesn't narrow it down.

I hated working weekends. I was a stay-at-home-mom for 15 years, went to work at WalMart, got these hernias, and am back to being a stay-at-home-mom. I'll probably get bored again, but for now I'm enjoying it. Especially considering my twin boys are 15 and my daughter is 14. lol

If you got to the ARBA convention in kansas there will be some nice stock there. Karen Clark (who I got my Franklin from) and Janet lorenz I think is going there have awesome frenchies
