hi all my bunny Apple pictured here-

is worrying me, for those of you who know i found him when he and his brother blackberry were dumped at the end of my street, now the story so far is this they were booked in to be both neautered BUT a week before their date Blackberry attacked Apple in the night and i found him in a puddle of blood in their bed in the morning:bigtears:after we rushed him to the vets he had an emergency op and was neautered blackberry was done the next day, so since then we seperated there hutch and run obviously Apple had extra medicine and healed fine, but we tried twice to bond them again but both times Blackberry started fighting with Apple so i have given it up as it's too stressful for Apple.

The thing is Apple is a very gentle rabbit completley different to Blacberry, he hides his head under my arm when i pick him up and he hides from anyone who isn't me (although i am the main carer of them all) one of his ears flops all the time is this normal? because Blackberrys are both straight also sometimes i wonder if he can see out of his left eye but it looks the same as his other eye he seems to work with his sense of smell and sound more than what he can see? perhaps im just worrying over nothing but he doesnt seem like the others. does anyone think it could just be because of his past trauma?
i gave him a bath the other week as he was sitting in his pee and poo corner (think he's a bit depressed) and kept him in the house for 3 hours he sat happily on the couch on his blanket washing his feet, my other bunnies would have been wandering all over the house.
i know every rabbit is different am i just worrying too much???????

thanks all xxx

It takes a while for the horomones to leave their systems. Try again in a couple of weeks to rebond them. Do it slowly. Some bunnies want to bond with humans more than their own kind. Could be he feels safer and closer to you than the others. If his eye seems okay, just check it occasionally to make sure he doesn't have an infection. Otherwise if he seems to be eating, pooing and peeing he could be just healing. If they are now separated make sure they have lots and lots of extra bedding. Like humans, animals tend to feel the cold more when healing.

hi all, i should have said Apple and Blacberry had there ops in october so they are fully healed now, i've tried them together on two seperate occasions but Blackberry was having none of it he just started on apple, i also tried apple with my two girls but one of the girls also tried to fight him so i guess thats a no no too :?

xxx

Whatever it is, I hope he feels better soon! And I'd strongly suggest you don't let the other bunnies get too close to him, as they fight poor Apple all the time. Poor bunny..

Maybe you could tae him to a vet and check if he has something..

I've found that some rabbits just don't get along with other rabbits. We had a neutered male and a spayed female and tried for months to get them to bond - they would always fight. Separately, they are sweethearts and love human attention. Together, they are vicious and all they want to do is fight each other. They currently share a room, but are separated by a gate. One day, they'll lay against the gate together and groom each other. The next day, they'll attack each other through the gate. There are no guarantees that all bunnies can be bonded. :(

thats what apple and blackberry are like they have a seperated run at the mo so only have 4ft each most of the time they sit bum to bum thru the mesh other times blackberry tries to bite apples tale thru the mesh, i think in the new year blackberry may have to find a new home :bigtears: i dont want him to go but i cant have them live the way they are it isn't fair and i have ill health due to crohnes desease and low imune system so my husband has to step in sometimes i dont want any of my bunnies to go :( xxx

at the minute they live in a seperated hutch apple is up and blackberry down but there 8ft run is seperated in the middle but they can still see each other x

Just to update Apple went to the vets sunday he is ok but his teeth are growing too fast on his right hand side so in 2 weeks he goes to have them filed down, blackberry will need to be checked too tho as they are brothers but atleast he's ok :) xxxx:highfive:
