Hi everyone!!!!

I am new to the bunny scene.....my hubby got me a bunny for our anniversary this year. I belive, after a lot of research, that he (maybe she, dont yet know how to tell.) is a lionhead. He is all black, and beatiful. And my kids and have named him Barama.

I love him very much, he is my newest baby!!!!

Anyways, any tips you can pass on....much appreciated.

I have had lots of pets before but never a bunny....

Congrats on your new bunny! Barama is a very adorable name. We would love to see pictures of him! Click on the link below, it's filled with useful info on rabbit care. See you around the forum!

How many water bottles does your bunny go through? Mine seems to go through an awful lot, we are filling up the water bottles every 3 hours or so, since they get so low. (And I hate having to drink water that has been sitting, so why should Barama?)

He had one that came with him that is 16 oz.

after 2 days of Constantly refilling it, we finally gave in, and bough a second one to put up next to it. (Cause for some reason petsmart only had the one....)

Now, my hubby says, "WEll my mom thinks she's pregnant!!!!!"

Oh, gosh, I havent even looked to see what she is!!! (He???)

Well females will only drink a lot of water when pregnant right before they have the babies, like a day or two. Some bunnies just drink a lot of water. Is she indoor or outdoor? If it is warm indoors than she may drink more water to keep hydrated.

Well, she/he was given to us 3 days ago now. For free, woman did not want her, and was going to put her outside, so now she is inside and happy, and I dont think the house is warm, about 68??? maybe up to 72 when I forget to turn it off. :)

Is that to warm for her?? I hope I am not making her uncomfortable. :(

No that is fine for her. Just don't let it get too warm, like summer time weather. She could be pregnant. Do you know if the woman had any other rabbits? How old is Barama anyway?

We are not sure yet. :(

The lady who gave him to us, said that her husband brought the poor thing home for their son for his birthday.

Barama BIT my hubby yesterday. :( I had to work my long day. (2 days a week I work very long days) and hubby went into the cage to refill the food bowl, and Barama went charging at him and bit him.

Now as soon as I got home,I checked on her, cause of course it couldn't be barama's fault (At least not in my opinion.heheheh) Well I set her cage down on the floor, and opened the door and layed down on the floor, like my bunny book says is best until she gets to know me better, and she came right over to me, hopped on me, then proceeded to run around the house like crazy!!!! Finally she calmed down and came to sit up on the couch with me. (It was sooo cute, everytime I stopped petting her, she got up and nuzzled my hand, or arm or leg until I started again.)

Could she have bitten him because she was angry about being in the cage all day? I know she was not let out often when she lived in her previous house, they had a dog, that the mom would not put outside for the bunny to get some excersise, so she would not be used to being out????

Today, I put her, and her cage (with the door open) into our old playpen, with a blanket that she will nto leave alone, and of course a few balls and things for her to bat around, and she seems to be doing fine. (Iam not at home) But no attempt to bite anyone else.

Any ideas?

Oh, and we did find out she is definently a she last night!!!!

so the pregnancy could certainly be true.

Welcome & congrats on your new bunny.

I don't know that much about female rabbits, but from what I've read on here it seems that females can get aggressive if they are pregnant. So, the biting of hubby could be hormone related.

Keep us posted and we like pictures!

If he was going into her cage to get or put food in she could have nipped him because that is her turf. Rabbits are very territorial and she probably didn't like him invading her space.

Some of my buns will do that to me from time to time.
