I just adopted my first kitten (Iroh) last week who I hope will get along pretty well with my little Netherland Dwarf, Toby. I've heard a lot of positive experiences when it comes to introducing a new cat to a resident bunny, and that cats are usually one of the more successful pets you can friend to a rabbit.

When I brought Iroh home, I put one of Toby's much-used blankets in the kitten safe-room so he could get used to the bunny's smell. Last night was the first day they got a glimpse of each other (on opposite sides of a baby gate.) Toby seemed pretty relaxed about the cat (when he was just a baby he lived in a house with cats with his former owner.) The kitten was checking the bunny out and they both got right up to the fence and then Iroh went and darted his paw through the gate and made Toby run away a bit. Not sure whether the kitten meant it as play, simple curiosity, or what.

Does anyone here have any experience (positive or negative) with rabbits and cats together? I got a young kitten since Toby is very small and pretty timid, so that way the cat isn't any bigger than Toby and doesn't intimidate him too much. I'm hoping even that the lack in size difference will toughen Toby up enough to the challenge where he'll assert his territory a bit with the kitten, which I've heard many rabbits do in the beginning and helps establish the boundaries with the new cat.

Any opinions? What were some good methods others have used to smooth the cat-rabbit introduction? Any one have some good links to articles or sites other than the one rabbit.org article?

Hey there:)
I have my rabbit Bentley (she's a mini rex approximately 3-4 years old) and I also have a cat named Callie (she's like .. 4 or something) and they get along okay. Nothing to dangerous. What I usually do is Callie likes to sleep on the top of our couch, and I'll bring Bentley out on the couch, and Bentley will go over to Callie and sniff her, then Callie will usually try and bite Bentley's nose, however I think she's just being playful because Bentley usually just sits there and stares, and then Callie will start licking Bentley's nose and between the eyes (its super cute ^^ ) I use to have a video of it.. however that was deleted :( But I think they should be fine together as long as your cat is declawed. Callie has her front paws declawed, and she'll usually bat at Bentley in a playful way.. I always watch over them though just in case. ^^ I think Iroh and Toby will get along, cats and rabbits usually are good friends

I have not had a bad experience.

But as my kitten now 5 months old got bigger he thinks Storm wants to play with him. And he is ruff. Not trying to hurt him but play and storm was like I dont want to play with you fool never left alone unattended.

I had boss from birth and pictures of him young abnd sitting looking at storm now if storm moves boss chases.

I think they can be friend when boss get older and clames down
