Hi again! It was brought to my attention that I should tell you a little about myself.

I am the executive director of a wildlife hospital & education center (shameless plug)in New York. (If you look under our staff, you'll see another picture of me.)We work with native wildlife to our state, such as songbirds, hawks, owls, shorebirds such as herons, terns, and mammals such as squirrels, opossums and cottontail rabbits.
That is how I got my bunny; we got a call on an "albino cottontail", who turned out to be a New Zealand white; the rest is history as outlined in my other thread.

I am married, have (besides my bunny, Gulliver) three cats (Tobias, Olivia-Jean and Caleb), a gerbil named Gilbert, a red-eared slider named Sabrina (also a result of an admission to our hospital - she was hit by a car, and not a native turtle to our state, so she couldn't be released.) I also have a 55gallon saltwater fish tank. So I'm a little busy!

As far as other interests, I'm working on developing interests outside work. When you make what you love, what you do for a living, you sometimes forget to do other stuff, and I've gotten stuck in that rut. I do like to read, and though I don't do it as much as I'd like, I crochet. I love to go to movies, and out to eat, but (see below) can't afford that anymore!

My husband & I just bought our first house, so we're fixing up & moving in.
Hmm, I don't have much else to share, so I'd just like to say hi and I look forward to sharing more (hopefully happy) Gulliver tales, and getting to know your bunnies as well!

Hello! Welcome to the forum :biggrin2:!

Did you hear about this forum through Goosemoose? Gulliver the NZ sounds very familiar :p.

Welcome!

Thanks for telling us all about ya! You must show us pictures of your other pets, I love cats. :D

It's great that you work to help wild animals, it must be so rewarding to see them released again. :)

Yes, undergunfire, I did get a link to this forum through Goosemoose - I've been at Goosemoose's site for about 7 years now. Nice to have a familiar "face" here!
Gulliver is one famous bun, I guess!

Once I get myself together I'll post some pix of my cats too, and my super-turtle. She's really cool. So is my gerbil, but he's tiny & quick, and thus hard to get any good pictures of :p. At work, I have a couple pet mice, and a spiny mouse. The black mice are cute. The spiny mouse is a little boring; he doesn't eat much, and is very solitary so he really couldn't care less about me.

My job is good in lots of ways, but sad too - by the time wildlife is able to be picked up, they are aften really down & out, so it's hard to get them back on track sometimes. And, because there is no money in it, vets are few & far between who will even look at them, so we're most often on our own figuring it out.
For some reason, this week we're getting lots of hawks in! That is the coolest - when you get to release a hawk that was hit by a car. We had one last year that got bitten in the foot by whatever it caught for dinner (probably a squirrel). The toe got really infected, he couldn't hunt, got really weak & he came to us. The toe had to be amputated, but he did really well otherwise and was released. I actually have a picture of him, I'll try to find it later & post it. That was a really good feeling.
