Hello! Here to introduce myself; my name's Haley! I'm 19 years old and owned by a stubborn, spoiled silly Flemish Giant named Thumper. He's a pain, but as my boyfriend accurately suggested, I wouldn't have him any other way! I've had Thumper since May of last year and in March he'll be turning a year old. He's around 17 pounds, so pretty typical for a Flemish. His coloring is steel gray, which is a ticked fur coloring. He's not pedigreed or anything like that, just a great pet whom I'm happy to share my life with. He's only my second rabbit, the first being a Netherland Dwarf from my childhood so it's been a pretty substantial change and a huge learning experience for me since getting him!

Does anyone else have a giant? :D

Hi there and welcome, I can only imagine the amount of trouble a flemmie can get into. 3 times the size, three times the trouble! :D

Thanks so much for the welcome guys! Trouble he is, love him I must, but I don't know about more trouble. I chose to get his breed for the fact that I figured it'd be easier to keep an eye on him and that he'd be less inclined to fear our dogs. It's nice not worrying about him getting behind furniture because of his big bunny butt and I'm not as scared to handle him as he doesn't feel as fragile as I remember my dwarf feeling to me. He can pack a punch when he wants to, don't get me wrong, I've gotten more scars on my arms since getting him then I ever got before, even when I was handling feral cats on a daily basis. I adore him though and while he's not afraid to be kind of nasty to some people, he's never bit me and even when I'm doing something unpleasant (i.e. trimming his nails, moving his hutch accessories around) he attempts to lick me into submission, sometimes accompanied by tooth clicking.

I love the Checkered Giant fur pattern Nancy! If I ever decide to get Thumper a friend (not financially feasible currently) I'll definitely look into one of those as an option! My first project is to get him neutered though. I just took up a second job (drug test pending) and hope that'll get that mess sorted out pretty quickly. He's nasty to people sometimes and he sprays so that's what I'm hoping the alteration will cut down on. He seems to have a fondness for three people max (me, my boyfriend, and my step sister), but otherwise anyone else who tries to feed him or get close to him he gets really upset about.

Whiterabbitrage, is the pretty fawn in your profile picture whom you're referring to? She's super cute!
