so I tried to give dustbunny and clyde fresh romaine lettuce for the first time and they totally didnt want any part of it!! I've been so excited to start them on veggies and fruit since i've got them 4 mos. ago!! I guess I have to run to the store tomorrow and get some fresh herbs to try??? I hope they aren't picky little buns!!! tomorrow we're bringing them upstairs to start their rebonding process since their neuters 5 weeks ago. hopefully we'll have better luck with that!!!

Sometimes buns have to be offered something more than once. They may not want it the first time offered but may take it the second time.
Also, I know with Thumper he will not take something from me that he hasn't eaten before. I first have to place something new into his bowl. Once he has eaten the new item from his bowl then and only then will he take some from my hand.
Before giving up try offering it more than once.
Thumper also will not take food offered to him at other times, I figure he is just full or just doesn't feel like eating at the moment. Usually when he is lazing around.

I was SO excited when my bunnies hit 12 weeks and I could start introducing veggies... I, too, got them romaine as their first veggie and like yours, my bunnies turned their noses up at it. I was SO sad!

the good news is that I kept trying and now they love romaine - it just took them a bit to work up the courage to try it!

Congratulations!

Start with just the Romaine for the first 5 days. Then, add one new vegetable.
Wait another 5 days before adding another new veggie.

If you do it slow, in stages, it helps their bellies get used to new food more easily.

Take a peek at this RO Library list for some ideas on new veggies to try :)

tried romaine for a few days, they are still turning their noses up at it!! :( tried fresh cilantro today, they wont eat that either. will keep trying with cilantro this week. should I maybe try a piece of apple next??

It took a loooong time for mine to finally like herbs. I would just keep offering it.

Cilantro, mint, and dill are very flavorful and sometimes rabbits will be picky about eating it. Carrots are a sugary treat and can be offered in limited quantities.

I would just keep offering one or two greens and give it some time and see if thry finally get brave enough to try :)
