A bit of a mixed day!

Yesterday, we were meant to be flying to Kefalonia. To have a week in the sun, away from all the stress, away from Steve's crazy working schedule (he's had about a week off in TOTAL all year, including weekends), no housework, no nothing- just a week relaxing, eating lovely Greek food, having a few cocktails, walking along the beach, relaxing by the pool, etc etc- you get the picture.

And then I had to go and get STUPID glandular fever and STUPID tonsilitis and go into STUPID hospital, and be told I can't fly :( So we're not in Kefalonia, we're stuck in smelly old England still, missing out on our holiday that we waited so long (and spent all that money on that we can't get back ) :X

So, I've been feeling really fed up about that....

BUT....

Tomorrow, is my normal pay day. My pay slip normally arrives a day early. I'm due to get my redundancy either this month or next month. I'm terrified in case they realise that they've overpaid me and take the money out of my redundancy package. I NEED that money- it's going to pay off debts and pay my rent for the forseeable future.

The post was late, as usual. Nearly 2pm when it arrived!

My pay slip was there  I could not open it, my hands were shaking that much, and I thought I was going to be sick!

I GOT MY REDUNDANCY!!!!!!!!!!! ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:woohoo:woohoo:woohoo

I called Steve and pretty much burst into tears lol. I've been so worried about it coming through ok. And now it's all over!

I'm still really gutted about our holiday, but now I know we can book a great hotel for San Francisco in November and have a brilliant time there instead.... And I can afford to live for the next few months lol! :biggrin2:

So, this was another 'poor me' thread, sorry! But at least I had a happy ending :)

I'm so happy for you!

I know you wanted to go on your holiday but - well - things work out for the best in ways..... Had you been out of town, you wouldn't have been there to get the package either!

Thank you! :)

This is a very good point- I would have had to wait until tomorrow and hope to find some sort of internet and check my bank account, but that would have been unlikely... I would have died of worry!

I suppose, that all these things happen for a reason, and I'm still pretty lucky that I get to go to San Fran later this year- I keep remembering that although I've had my fair share of 'bad luck' recently, I don't have it nearly as bad as some people do....

i would switch places with you in a hearbeat. i'll take 'smelly old england' anytime!

i am psyched to go there, me and my friend are going to do some backpacking around europe in summer of 2010

And why would you want to live in England? It rains all the time, its too expensive and everyone hates us!

Fran :) :hearts :brownbunny

Thanks guys!! :bunnydance::bunnydance:

Swanlake, the irony, that you want to come over here.... I'd quite like to visit the US lol! I know I am in November, but I'd like to see a lot more of it...

Fran, LOL at 'everybody hates us' !!

I guess England isn't that bad really- I do like living here overall, it's just that we've had a terrible summer, and I was expecting to escape for a week, to the sun!! :p

Yeah, it's sad you can't travel a bit before going home! I had a friend come in from Australia one time.... he was from one coast to the other!
