I was looking through the rabbits at Midwest Rabbit Rescue online, and I found this bun:

Why is her face shaped like that? I'm not trying to be mean, but I've never seen a rabbit with a face like that.

Sabriel, my dutch has a small chubby snout.

So I was just curious as if there are genes that make their faces do that, or what?

Thanks! xx

Yes - I think it's just the angle it was taken from. The face appears more normal in the other photos. Areas of the face that are closer appear larger in photographs.

It doesn't look to be a well-bred Dutch. Just a Dutch colored bunny. :)

I promise - I am NOT making fun of you - but the way you worded that - I just burst out laughing and almost choked on my drink.

Thanks for that...

Her face is very narrow, and that is just caued by her genetics. and I agree with Julie. The pet fingind services have a hard job trying to identify breeds so they have to go with what they see.

:p Just to clarify, just incase.:p

The rabbit may or may not be purebred, type isn't always an indicator, so I didn't want to assume. But the rabbit didn't appear to be one originating from a breeder who was working to better the breed (well bred). Therefore, the characteristics of the rabbit don't quite fit the characteristics of what you'd expect on your general Dutch rabbit.
