My niece was induced on Sunday evening. She was due last week. My son and I were on a college visit to Purdue all day yesterday and kept in touch via texting with my other niece. So many things were happening, issues of the baby's heart rate and different things that made her stop and start the whole birthing thing.

FINALLY at 10:30 last night, I got the call............ a huge healthy boy! We knew it was likely a boy....... but we had no clue how big! The doc said "ohh it'll be about 7 pounds.......".... NINE POUNDS, FIFTEEN OUNCES!!! I think they should call him MOOSE..... LOL!

Gonna see him later today. I have some phone pics.... he's adorable!

:happyrabbit:congratulations to all concerned. hope your neice is ok - my son was that weight:shock:after being told he was only going to be 6lb...

YAAAAAAY!

Congrats Pennie! I know you've been excited about this for ages- probably about 9 months to be precise! :p

And oh my he is huge! I was 9lb 5oz when I was born and my mum said that was enough for her!

Glad that they're ok- you must post pics!!

WOW! Big babies! Mine were 7 lb 14 oz and 8 lb 6 oz and both were 2 weeks early!

Alex is so cute! I will be going to see him today sometime. I will definitely post some pics..... the one I have now - he is SO MAD cause they were messing with him LOL!

I went to see him today! She's so sore, torn, swollen, exhausted! He is quiet and sleepy LOL! I couldn't believe how heavy he was when I lifted him up. He's such a good baby! I can't wait to spend more time with him!

this has just taken me right back in time - give your niece my love and tell her there's some one else who really does know what she's gone thru:bunnyhug:dont know how it is where she is but a couple of days after id had alex a nurse came round to talk about contraception...........

LOL! She's probably already figured out what she'll do. I don't think they want anymore. They just want to have him and spoil him rotten........that will be easy I think!

congrats to you and to them, i cant wait to see pics!!!!!
Wow he was a big baby!!!

my guys were 8lb 16 oz (1 1/2 weeks overdue)
8lb 15 oz (1 1/2 weeks overdue)
7lb 0 oz (2 1/2 weeks early)
8lb 11oz (1 Week early)

MET TOO! My other niece is supposed to email some to me but she's a busy student so I haven't pestered her.

I have a couple of them but one is SO bad...... he's screaming his lungs out LOL!

Here's baby Alex with my other niece, his auntie. He was just born in this one..... he's got the prettiest skin for a baby. He has a lot of dark blonde/light brown hair.

Awww, congratulations!

My Andy was 9 lbs 4 oz (natural - no drugs) and Benn was... 11lbs 14 oz...(C-section and he had a twin I lost early on - we joke to this day that Benn must have ate his twin and he laughs about it). And, they were both delivered 3 weeks early as diabetic babies left to term can go stillborn, so the docs said.

Enjoy the new baby... good thing I have horses and rabbits or I'd be wanting one myself and I am too old and a type 1 diabetic to boot to have to go through the process again...

Congratulations to your niece - hope she heals quickly from the delivery.

Thanks everyone! He actually held his head up and looked around the room when my sister was burping him a couple of days ago! :shock:He's SO strong. My son was like that and took steps at 7.5 mos and ran by 9 mos! LOL!

Denise, HOLY COW! You had a toddler (or two) also! Diabetics have that for sure. I was monitored closely cause I was always borderline gestational diabetic. Now, I have metobolic syndrome (pre-diabetes) ... Most of my dad's side of the family is diabetic..... my sister is insulin resistant, dad is on the pills..... his dad died from complications of diabetes..... Not Fun.

I love the picture of your niece holding him - I love new babies...kinda miss my own boys being "little" again.

When I took big Benn home the nurse laughed and said "It's like taking a three month old home." They had him in the NICU for a bit for jaundice and he was placed next to a 4 lb baby... everyone liked seeing the big baby and the teeny tiny baby together.

Enjoy being a great-aunt! Congratulations and hug that baby for me!

Denise
