Ok well I thought my girl bun might be pregnant *I have only had them since 12/23/09 so NO I haven't had a chance to get them fixed*
That thankfully was a scare and she turned up losing her pudge she had been packing on, and is a nice weight.

I was looking at my buns the other day to make sure that they were all healthy and good and I noticed that My black Otter male was in with my Male Fox tort... And that my black otter male was in with my lil chestnut female....
NOT COOL!

Now my friend who has been down visiting has been known to breed my rats without my consent because SHE WANTS TO! is her excuse, or when I see her and she is trying to be sneaky she claims not to know that she was putting them in the wrong cage... Now Other then myself she has been the ONLY one to be in the bun cage...

Soooooo If they were caught trying to mate for like 3 days *yes I know I should have looked then, but I am used to unfixed animals humping the same sexed animal*
What do you think our chances are??
Then this morning I found My lil Chestnut female in with my Fox Tort male...
There is NO WAY, she could have gotten in his cage without a lil help ya know?

Soooo questions are:
When can I tell if they are pregnant?
What are the chances they are?
What is a safe age for delivery on dwarf mixed *they are kinda young but not that young. 5-7 months*

Thank you for your time.

shell have babys in a month if shes prego.
id get her spayed...and abort babies

some breed at 8-9 months for dwarfs but younger than that is really young.

She probably is pregnant. You should be able to tell roughly 14 days later(after they bred), by palpating

Rabbits can get pregnant from the very early age of 4 months. Though this isnt recommended!!

Em.. Since they are dwarfs there is a 30%/40% chance you could lose your doe (now, if im wrong - people, please dont hesitate to tell me!!). This is what I was told before :)

5-7 months is fine for breeding them dwarf breeds mature quicker than larger breeds.
I dont think its such a high % for losing a first time doe but its probably a larger % than that for her losing her first litter tbh.

Just make sure you keep her seperate now and make sure your friend knows u think she is pregnant in case she decides to do it again!

Well I won't abort them unless it will kill mum, I am prepared to care for the babies, and keep them if need be.

I'll be trying to tell, I know rats are pregnant for like 21 days give or take, and I can tell they are preggers after a week.

Well my younger girl is about 5months old, and she is small. And more dwarf sized.
Her big sister is about 7months old and is rather large.

Hopefully all will be fine, and hopefully they aren't pregger

Adding to my post above this, however if they are pregger they will be spayed as soon as the babies are ready to leave mom so there are no more meddling people making more.

I DO want to breed buns but that won't be for at least a year, and by then I want Pedigreed ones, like my rats, What's the point of making more if not to better the breed?

These buns were intended for PET only. And I am SURE that once my friend leaves it'll never happen again, but they will all be fixed as soon as possible.

This is awful, can't believe your friend did that! They aren't her bunnies.

Hopefully there will be no babies :grumpy:

My thoughts exactly
she is 10months younger then me *she's 23 I am 24* and she acts 10 YEARS younger.

I don't like irresponsible people like that. If they were hers FINE she could do what she wanted and just have me a peeved at her.

Instead she is messing with my bunnies lives!

Smaller breeds can be bred at around 6 months (they turn "senior" at 6 months of age). So that parts ok. :) Iwould sucker punch your friend though. That's NOT COOL. But yeah, you can usually tell by week 2 if they are pregnant. You can carefully palpate and feel for the baby marbles. Plus they seem to gain a little weight and eat more than usual. At 3 to 3 1/2 weeks, I put a hand full of hay in the cage. Pregnant does stuff the hay into their mouths and carry it around to make the nests. lol (makes for some cute pics too) That's how I always know for sure!

She is lucky she is not my friend. :X

Just as a suggestion...maybe you should consider not letting your friend near your pets. I'm not trying to pass judgment, but she sounds like she has some sort of problem. That's kinda a weird / gross thing to do.

I'm sure shes perfectly nice in other ways. I'd just keep her away from your pets entirely, even after they are fixed. It doesnt sound like she has much respect for you or your animals.

Well she hasn't been around for about 2 years, just coming for a day or so every so often, but when she was here to visit I tried to keep her busy and not let her see the furkids.
This time however she was here for a week, and ALWAYS messing with the bunnies. She tried to mix my rats again but with them in my living room, I had 6 pairs of eyes on her. The buns were in my room, and she spent a fair deal in there so I couldn't watch her every second *Bathroom time, and Sleeping makes it hard to watch her >_<* And she had already told me a couple of times she wants a new bunny and things like that.

So I will be watching the girls really close. And see what happens O_O

I don;t know you set up, but it is possible to lock the room and/or cages so she can't get at them. Even if it is just when she is around, it could help. If they are in you bed room, you could get an alarm that would go off if the door opens so you know if she is in there. I would also keep her out of your room when she is over. That may mean you are not in your room all the time.

Personally, if someone was doing that with my pets, more the putting them together than the breeding stuff, they would not be invited back. If she cannot respect your stuff, then she is not mature enough to come over and see them. You could still hang out with her, just not at your place.

You can buy those tiny locks to put on the cage doors. Keep the keys somewhere safe and not let her know. Some people use them at the fair to make sure their bunnies aren't stolen. I have used them before.

With my cage all she would need to do is step or reach over the top.:(
I have no need for lids on my cage as the buns are content in there, and get their play time and my cats were raised with small animals and buns included so they lay next to the cage never in.

Luckily my friend is rarely here anymore.
When she lived in the same city I had to be VERY mindful of her. She now lives about a hundred miles away give or take and comes down rarely. But as mentioned before *I think* she was staying here for a week. She left yesterday and what do you know? My buns haven't been gender mixed since she left. Which confirms it. Since they weren't mixing until she came around. and now she is gone they aren't mixing still.

This is an older photo of my cage. Today I am Replacing the flooring and I will have to take more photos with the set up and their toys in there.

Since the girl was in with my male he took over the bottom, so I actually have 4 bun cages at the moment >_<
I need to work on Bonding my buns back, but I think I will wait until the boys are snipped, then I will wait and see if the girls are pregnant, then get them spayed asap.

I sure hope you can find experienced rabbit loving home for the babies. I do know that all the rabbit rescues in PHX are having a terrible time finding homes for the bunnies. It stinks that more and more rabbit "oopsies" are being brought into AZ. Its all over CL...some stupid person keeps breeding the same lop mix bunnies over and over again and selling the babies....but her selling presentation is doing live stream videos over ustream :(.

As sad as it is...sometimes an e-spay is the best thing you can do. With so many unwanted rabbits sitting in full shelters & rescues...its not fair for more to be brought into the world because "cute babies" take up spots in homes where a rescued bun should be.

I'd seriously strangle your friend if it was me :baghead.

She's gonna have a vet check here soon and I am gonna ask the vet what she thinks.
I am however prepared to keep the buns if I can't find a home for them.

I will though start sending more people on my rescue bun list out towards PHX since I have ALOT of good bunny folk waiting for some new family members.

Yeah I am ready to strangle her! She kept saying over and over as soon as she found out I was getting buns that she wanted some again *Her's always died from SOMETHING, Be it her Dog chasing it and killing, her brother scaring it to death *literally* her daughter killing it on accident (she didn't watch my goddaughter well when she was like 1yrs old and she at that time didn't understand how to hold the bun) things like that.*
So she figured that if MY bunnies had babies then I would give her one or two, FAT CHANCE!
I was not planning on my buns EVER having babies. If I wanted them to have babies I would have gotten Pedigree show buns, ya know?

If she were my friend I'd be handing her the vet bill if the bunny (bunnies?) turns out pregnant. She's responsible for this, so she needs to *be* responsible for it. At the very least it might discourage her from doing such an awful thing again.
