So, Im having my baby shower on Nov 10. We are doing it co-ed so my husband can be there. I want to make him a gift basket, just for him. Like a Daddy-to-be gift basket. I need some ideas on what to put in it. I want to do some nice things, but also some funny gifts/gag gifts....any ideas are appreciated!

I'd put some of his favourite foods in (maybe some funny tags to put on the packages, eg, "some nuts because I'm nutty about you!" ... but better, lol), some boredom breakers for when he's on night duty, maybe some homemade coupons (one free pass for nappy changing etc), a New Dad cup & some coffee beans, box of cigars, double photo frame for the office.

As for gag gifts - maybe some prompt cards for things he should be saying during your labour, earplugs, a box of "protection", lol. Maybe a funny book about fatherhood?

Btw - are you breastfeeding? I only ask because if you are, he may want to take over a certain duty because he can't help with feeding? I know some fathers like to do that. You could make a gift basket out of the baby bath, fill it with the baby's lotions and things, maybe some hand cream for him and a "Daddy's girl/boy" towel. Just an idea :)

I am breast feeding..Strictly for the first 2 weeks or so, so the baby can get the colostrum. Then I'll be mostly pumping so he can help feed too. I'll still breast feed sometimes (naps, night time, for comfort)

I like your ideas! Definitely like homemade coupons

How about for gag gifts: a "diaper changing kit" with rubber dish gloves, some tongs, a gas mask, and goggles. Or A tool belt with baby "tools," such as a bottle, bottle brush, baby powder, a rattle, a rolled-up bib, a thermometer and baby wipes. If the tool belt has a carabiner attachment, clip on a pacifier and a ring of plastic keys. And maybe a bag of m&m's or some of his favorite cookies as a "daddy treat" when he successfully changes his first diaper, survives his first night, etc etc. :)

Oh right, no problems there then.

That's what I plan to do when I finally have a kid. I would hate to feel like I was shutting him out of any part of the baby's routine.

Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?

Oooh those are good ones! You could also have silly little medals for his 'firsts' too.

Thats exactly how i feel about it, i dont want him to feel left out.

ahh!!! i love all the ideas. We are having a little boy. his name is William Elijah but we are calling him Liam for short. I could put all of it in a cool tool box!

What about a baby book aimed at men? My husband and I are both huge readers and I know he will probably have more books than I will. A copy of the movie "what to expect when you are expecting", which is a comedy. Toothpicks to keep his eyes open during late night feedings (think tom and jerry cartoons) or no doze. CD of lullaby music.
